Presence | My Justice Journey
https://myjusticejourney.wordpress.com/2014/02/26/presence
Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly With Your God. February 26, 2014. The Kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the Kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21). Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly With Your God. July 7, 2014. Man who died overnight in the apartment across the street. I prayed for the twenty-something brother left behind. Part of the hood. I am 1 1/2 blocks up from the dividing line of reputation, 1/2 a block south of the street known to be a magic wardrobe into the really dicey stuff. Some people would feel it too close for comfort. I have a vision to see that dividing line taken away. This entry was posted in Journey Reflections. Create a free ...
Caring Enough to Break the Rules | My Justice Journey

Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly With Your God. June 1, 2014. Caring Enough to Break the Rules. Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles in the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. Luke 5:18-19. Can I make a difference? And I didn’t find an answer; I didn’t find a place. I could not find a way.

Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly With Your God. March 12, 2014. I walk into the brothel district. I didn’t exactly know what I was doing. Until someone told me, You are right in it. This is where I spend my days. This is where I sit and sing with the women. This is where my friends are. It’s a 10-minute journey. I walk past outdoor urinals, past men bathing at a public water spout. I hold my breath past the mini garbage dump, where people sort through the mess and load it onto a truck. This entry was ...

Reflecting on my Farm-Call Dad | Gathering Breadcrumbs
https://gatheringbreadcrumbs.wordpress.com/2012/12/31/reflecting-on-my-farm-call-dad
Savoring grace in life. December 31, 2012. Reflecting on my Farm-Call Dad. Twenty or so years later, on what would have been my dad’s 59th birthday, I caught myself reflecting on the pride and security I received from my dad as a child. The memories are the only thing I still have. But this day I realized I had also been given a powerful picture of what relationship with my heavenly dad can do. Leah’s Lullaby | Gathering Breadcrumbs
https://gatheringbreadcrumbs.wordpress.com/2012/10/08/leahs-lullaby
Savoring grace in life. October 8, 2012. When the LORD saw that Leah was not loved, he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren. Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, It is because the LORD has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now. (Genesis 29:31-32). Have you noticed God’s attentions to the unloved? Have you meditated on God’s concern for the forgotten and unwanted? Have you soaked in his concern for you? Leah, the one God still had plans for.

Surprise Transformations | Gathering Breadcrumbs
https://gatheringbreadcrumbs.wordpress.com/2013/04/08/surprise-transformations
Savoring grace in life. April 8, 2013. An experiment in Easter home-art becomes an object lesson for my life. To say I was excited would be an understatement. There’s something about a surprise transformation that defies descriptive adjectives. I think I might be a pale pink egg. Was I given wrong information? I don’t want to believe that, so I blame myself and turn up the heat. I think I need to try harder, or do more. Is it possible that everything is exactly as God said? I consider that our present su...

The Vulnerability of Life | Gathering Breadcrumbs

Savoring grace in life. August 19, 2014. The Vulnerability of Life. Our joy was short-lived. Being a wise and attentive turtle, it caught sight of us and, using it’s legs as nimble rudders, veered back into the ocean. While our excitement was somewhat squelched the wonder remained. We had just seen something beautiful for the very first time. What an awkward, vulnerable, long drawn-out process! What determination and patience this turtle must have to successfully lay it’s eggs! There was nothing comforta...
