Saturday, August 3, 2013. Riding in a sauna. S texted me when she got back from the show to see if I wanted to set up a lesson - so I went and rode this morning. I don't recommend riding in a sauna. My car said it was only 84*F when I finished, but it sure felt a lot hotter between the humidity and the heat index. Yuck. I know I know what to do and how (and so does S), I'm just rusty. Friday, October 10, 2014. This week's lesson was very similar to last week's. I did quite a bit of trotting and cantering around, and some ground poles at the trot and canter, as well. The main difference was she had me doing some strengthening stuff at the trot.like down-down-up (DDU) posting or up-up-down (UUD) posting. Ouch! Thursday, September 25, 2014. It's been a crazy-busy couple of months. In August, I went to the NC mountains to celebrate my 30th birthday with friends and family. We rented a cabin and stayed there for 8 days. Friday, June 19, 2015. If I don't subconsciously drop my eye at the base of the jump, I get a pretty consistent distance, every time. Last night, C was out of town, so my new lesson partner and I rode with A, who was just hired by L, as a slightly more advanced instructor. The point was to take poles and/or jumps in stride, instead of worrying so much about finding the right distance. If the pace is consistent, this happens naturally. I assumed that she would provide one, because that had always been my experience before: ride a "school" horse, use a "school" (or the owner's, etc) saddle. Monday, July 13, 2015. This past Saturday marked 3 years since I said goodbye to Promise. It's really had to believe it's been that long.some days it feels like just yesterday and others, it feels like a lifetime. I suppose the one thing I've learned between losing Harley, my grandmother, and Promise, is that that particular aspect never really changes. Tuesday, November 25, 2014. Still riding.just not posting! Of course, I mean posting here, not in the saddle :-P. I've been riding every week since I first started back, still on AJ. He's not nearly as bad now that I am used to how uncomfortable he is and have sort of figured out how to sit to him.
