my little wargame blog

My little wargame blog. Monday, 9 April 2018. Another project underway is 28mm Napoleonic figures for a skirmish game. I'd like to have a crack at the Napoleonic variants of Lion Rampant or The Men Who Would Be Kings with these figures. I've decided to paint these as Italians, just as a something different from the usual French. I've chosen the 3rd regiment with green facings and red collars. Saturday, 24 March 2018. The most recent project - Raging Heroes. First, the metal figures. These figures are...

my little wargame blog: Thursday night at the club

http://mylittlewargameblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/thursday-night-at-club.html

My little wargame blog. Friday, 3 July 2015. Thursday night at the club. This week it was WIngs of War. 4 of us playing on a 3 x 2.5 foot map. We managed 3 games in the one night. One chap had got a Gotha bomber, so we set up a scenario where the Gotha had to go the length of the map to complete a bombing mission. He had a fighter escort and the allies had two fighters to try to stop them. Great fun. The Gotha takes 27 hits before it goes down (normal planes are about 16 range). 4 July 2015 at 06:39.

my little wargame blog: June 2015

My little wargame blog. Saturday, 27 June 2015. Still work in progress for the moment. Work on the GNW stuff got side tracked by some Seleucid stuff I decided to finish off before probably selling a whole batch of ancients stuff. Then I finished off the little dice-frame markers. Here's the Russian cavalry horses based with sand on the bases before I undercoat. At the front are the assembled markers to take 7mm and 10mm dice. The finished Russian cavalry horses. I gave these a coat of satin varnish t...

my little wargame blog: All the Tsar's horses

http://mylittlewargameblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/all-tsars-horses.html

My little wargame blog. Friday, 3 July 2015. All the Tsar's horses. After what seems like a long time, I got the GNW cavalry finished. Or nearly all of them finished. Here's the horses with some of the basing done. I wasn't too sure about some of the chestnuts; they seemed a bit bright, so I gave then a wash of sepia to tone them down. The bases were painted khaki over a cream undercoat base, drybrushed sand and highlighted in cream. And then the flags, and they're looking ready for business.

my little wargame blog: March 2015

http://mylittlewargameblog.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

My little wargame blog. Saturday, 28 March 2015. I had thought to get some more GNW stuff done, but couldn't quite get the time to finish some more. Here are some photos of current progress. The Swedish infantry at the back are done, but still to be based, and the artillery need the bases finished. Hopefully, I'll get both done in the next few days. The mounted infantry officer takes the space of 2 infantry). And waiting in the wings are the British (getting these was all a good idea at the time). Here's...

Tales from the attic: The Great War

http://talesfromtheattik.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-great-war.html

Tales from the attic. Tuesday, 7 July 2015. I finally managed to pop round to the post office to pick up my most recent kickstarter I backed. This one has been tremendous with regular updates and has arrived in a respectable timescale. So what's in the box. The usual suspects for a Richard Borg, 12x11 hex map, cards, counters, special dice and rules with 16 scenarios. Another 2 scenarios come with the deal as well as 10 artillery models. That's all for tonight but I think this will feature again soon.

Tales from the attic: December 2014

http://talesfromtheattik.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Tales from the attic. Friday, 26 December 2014. Ice and fire pt 1. I thought I'd post my first game of lion rampant for my ice and fire themed games. It will in no way follow the books but take its own path and will have many twists and turns along the way. It starts with a scenario from the rule book whereby one force has to find and safely retrieve an escaped enemy captive. She is said to be hiding in a nearby village. Immediately Rob mobilises some men and they head out. He must find his mother quickly.

Tales from the attic: 6mm dark ages

http://talesfromtheattik.blogspot.com/2015/06/6mm-dark-ages.html

Tales from the attic. Sunday, 28 June 2015. A very brief post about a little project I am squeezing into this years lot. I had picked up a copy of dux bellorum and had many ideas for miniatures. Then it struck me, play it in 6mm on 40x20 bases. This meant a unit was a single base meaning an entire force may be just 10 bases. A quick visit to baccus and using there unit builder, I parted with about £30 for both Viking and Saxon forces and some casualty markers. Dont press the red button. University, best ...

Tales from the attic: April 2015

http://talesfromtheattik.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Tales from the attic. Tuesday, 28 April 2015. Valhalla we are coming. Well now that a lot of other projects are out the way (all not painting or gaming based) it's time to get on with the show. So this weeks little update concerns these chaps. Scandinavian raiders. These are all metal minis bought to bulk out my plastic Vikings. They still need a dark wash to tone down the colour but there not as bad as the photo due to camera flash. Then some flock etc. That's all for now, maybe some more soon. My littl...

Tales from the attic: June 2014

http://talesfromtheattik.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Tales from the attic. Monday, 9 June 2014. As if I didn't have enough projects on the go, 1 of the 2 kick starters i backed last year has reached the good bit. It's all very nice, but I can't help thinking, why did I back this, I have too much to paint already! Joking aside it's very good and I will put up new posts as I go through it. Half of the order is still being made but most of the miniatures and the rules are here. At least this one turned out ok. Dont press the red button. Sunday, 8 June 2014.

Tales from the attic: February 2014

http://talesfromtheattik.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Tales from the attic. Monday, 10 February 2014. Quick update on the PAVN, almost finished, just a few bits of bush and elephant grass to add before a Matt varnish spray. 208 infantry in only 10 hours, yes they are a bit rough, but there's so many I doubt anyone will notice ha ha. The main infantry force. Gun teams and command. Also in between all the infantry I got side tracked again and painted these little guys. And a big Harumph to Stevie Mid, see you've finally started following my ramblings.

Tales from the attic: February 2015

http://talesfromtheattik.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Tales from the attic. Saturday, 7 February 2015. An army in a pint glass. Continuing my purge of the huge box of epic models I have put together several forces from the masses. First up for a quick build n paint will be a white scars space marine army. These guys have a very mobile doctrine so I went for lots of fast units. So a couple of hours this morning saw them built n based, should get some primer on them lunchtime and may get paint on them tonight. Ps the elephants aren't in this army! Easter Fool...

Tales from the attic: Dining table game matt

http://talesfromtheattik.blogspot.com/2015/06/dining-table-game-matt.html

Tales from the attic. Sunday, 28 June 2015. Dining table game matt. Well it's been quite some time since I've posted but I have managed the odd bit of gaming project. I had read many blogs etc about latex covered cloth mats that can be placed over everyday objects to create realistic hills and rises. So I had a rummage in the shed for suitable materials. Some wall smooth from after doing up the kitchen, some artist paint and an old jug. And of course and old dust sheet pinned down. The Blog With No Name.

My little wardrobe experiment

My little wardrobe experiment. Mein Versuch eines Capsule Wardrobe. Samstag, 9. April 2016.

Korbin

Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Who would have ever thought that someone telling you that something about your child is not normal would be such a relief? I never would have. Korbin has had a headbanging issue for months and months now probably closer to a year. Up until now, I have been brushes off by pretty much everyone being told that it is normal for his age. What part of a child banging his head on things to the point that there are knots and bruises is normal? Sunday, February 7, 2010. We have been ...
