American expat wife and mom, living in Nairobi. Saturday, April 2, 2011. Simple Woman's Daybook April 2, 2011. Women with just picked tea leaves near Kisii, Kenya, 2010. Simple Woman's Daybook stuff taken from Charis- one of my favorites, and besties, even though we've lived far apart for, well most ever-http:/ www.charisscofield.com/. From the kitchen: There are not the same items here for cooking as back 'home'. Most everything is made from scratch. Lately my favorite staple has been homemade g...To pl...

Out Loud: July 2010

American expat wife and mom, living in Nairobi. Monday, July 26, 2010. Missing but not Disappeared. It's been a long break from blogging. I had a busy two weeks of getting the house ready and presentable for tons of in laws visiting, and then three weeks of the in laws all in town. This would be the parental in laws as well as the brother and sister in law. It's very stressful, but I'm trying to just rest and have a different mindset towards money. ;). I feel large, but really compared to how much I gain...

American expat wife and mom, living in Nairobi. Thursday, October 21, 2010. Posted by Out Loud. Friday, October 8, 2010. I'm sitting here typing to the background noise of Elmo's world video, and my 2 year old, Cute Child, is randomly screaming into the living room air "ANMIMALS! And "MISTUH NOOODUL". I figure it's a good time to do a short update. And I wonder if all of this is a thyroid related problem! It's in a 9 house compound. SOooo excited! Posted by Out Loud. Monday, October 4, 2010. We've been s...

Out Loud: Abortion.
http://movingtonairobi.blogspot.com/2012/11/abortion.html
American expat wife and mom, living in Nairobi. Monday, November 12, 2012. This is a topic that I just won't change on. For me it is the silent holocaust around the world. It is the female genocide in Asia. To me it will never be a 'right' to kill someone else. I'm all riled up about this, not only because of it being an election year, and there's the whole supreme court justices, and the idea of Roe. V Wade ever being overturned. And here's where my heart and brain went:. I'm not really looking for resp...

Out Loud: September 2010

American expat wife and mom, living in Nairobi. Sunday, September 26, 2010. The Promenade: they don't make'm like this any more. John Mark McMillan is a worship leader that has inspired and led Hot Husband and I into worship many times, and we've never heard him live. Just from his recordings. One of the reasons is because his songwriting is very raw, real, and we can relate. He has a blog that I link to here. And his latest post. I will paste below. I found it oh so true. Tuesday, September 21, 2010.

American expat wife and mom, living in Nairobi. Monday, March 28, 2011. Okay, so I'm not sure if this item is my favorite gift *of all time* or not. There may have been something else I've received that trumped this. But I can't actually think of what that would be. The first thing I got was the entire collection of Jane Austen books for $1.99. Oh the joy! I then bought a cover. In a land where the customer service is somewhat nonexistent over half of the time, where good service is so rare I can count i...

Out Loud: "So, what does a normal day look like for you?"
http://movingtonairobi.blogspot.com/2011/11/so-what-does-normal-day-look-like-for.html
American expat wife and mom, living in Nairobi. Monday, November 28, 2011. So, what does a normal day look like for you? The heading says it all. That question, "So, what does a normal day look like for you over there? Last week I had a somewhat normal week. Power still off. Rest at home. Make dinner. Prepare my diet food (veg and chicken). Kids nap. Let Doris have a 2 hour nap, so she doesn't get pneumonia. I do I feel 10x's better and when I see her off at 6pm, I'm ready to tackle caregiving for very s...

Out Loud: May 2010
http://movingtonairobi.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
American expat wife and mom, living in Nairobi. Sunday, May 30, 2010. Raising kids in Kenya. The weather is starting to cool down here, but the sun has been out quite a bit nevertheless. It's days like today, where it's just a bit chilly, but the sun is shining brightly that remind me of a June day in Montana. It's nice. It's going to be fantastic once it's all arranged, and cleaned! Posted by Out Loud. Labels: Life in Kenya. Raising Kids in Kenya. Sunday, May 23, 2010. So much to do, so little time.
