Writing about what I know - life, work, (single) parenthood, inflammatory arthritis, and irony. Tuesday, 18 October 2011. Capacity and capability: or making hay while the sun shines. I've been a bit quiet lately. Not, thankfully, because I have been more unwell than usual, but because I have been rather better than at any point this year - and I've been making the most of it! Over the last few months:. The first time in two years I've been able to contemplate doing something that involved sustained repet...

Independent Woman: Staying organised?
http://inde-woman.blogspot.com/2011/08/staying-organised.html
Writing about what I know - life, work, (single) parenthood, inflammatory arthritis, and irony. Wednesday, 17 August 2011. Here's a confession. The other morning, I spent far more time and energy than I could afford turning my entire flat upside down, searching for some insurance documents . only to find them nicely filed, exactly where they should have been! This has prompted me to revisit and complete something I have been working on sporadically over the last few weeks - a questionnaire. I would say '...

Shopping and Online Finds. Pill Popping and Shopping… Round 3. Pill Popping and Shopping… Round 3. In Shopping and Online Finds. Just a quick find I thought I’d share with my fellow fibrofolks, spoonies, and POTSies as we head into the Christmas season. Fred Flare is my favorite place to find oddball, quirky stuff that makes me smile, and, for $14, this Nut Case Key Ring Pill Case. Although it’s got more personality than the options I discussed in my Pill Popping and Shopping post. Is it just me?

Independent Woman: Reality checkpoint: or who's crazy?
http://inde-woman.blogspot.com/2011/07/reality-checkpoint-or-whos-crazy.html
Writing about what I know - life, work, (single) parenthood, inflammatory arthritis, and irony. Thursday, 14 July 2011. Reality checkpoint: or who's crazy? There is a lamp post in the middle of Parker's Piece in Cambridge, which has the phrase 'Reality Checkpoint'. You have to pull yourself together, you have a child to think of". It can't be RA because.it's not the same as what [insert name/relation] is experiencing etc". We don't do RA". I think you just need something to take your mind off it". As for...

Writing about what I know - life, work, (single) parenthood, inflammatory arthritis, and irony. Saturday, 20 October 2012. I'm back.with a new diagnosis, or two. Well Where to start? I have so much to tell you. I was due to see my Rheumatologist next week, but that appointment has been rescheduled for New Year's Eve. I discussed this with my GP, but he advised that the refined diagnosis would probably not affect my treatment, so there was no real advantage to bringing the appointment forward.

Writing about what I know - life, work, (single) parenthood, inflammatory arthritis, and irony. Wednesday, 31 August 2011. A box ticking exercise? I ticked a box today. But it was not just a box, it was a categorisation that challenged my perception of myself and my condition (again! I was applying for a job, and came to the inevitable ' Do you have a disability as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act? You won't get any medals for "struggling on" but will do a good job with the support you need'.
