Donna's World: August 2008
http://granmadonna.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 15, 2008. A Day In The Life of Bailey. 7:30 am . smell 'mama's' coffee brewing and it wakes me up. I hear mama moving around at the other end of the house. I bark to tell her I'm awake and want out of my den. She can be so slow coming sometimes! Mama comes into the room where my house is and she sings 'Good Morning to you! To tell me she's coming for me! 160;She opens the door to my den and I'm so excited! 160;(Now mama will speak. Then he gets a chewy bone or a small pig ear to chew on&...

Donna's World: November 2008

Thursday, November 6, 2008. WE THE PEOPLE WIN! But not everyone feels that way. So, I've wondered as we celebrate . oh! If we who 'won' don't need to be thinking in terms of a Peace and Reconciliation movement, like Nelson Mandela instituted in South Africa, to heal the divisions and bring about some kind of loving unity . let's show the Republicans who feel they lost that we can work with them, not work in spite of them, and together they can feel that they too are part of the 'we won'. But, I think we ...

Donna's World: January 2009

Sunday, January 25, 2009. My Son's Reply to 'Inauguration Meanderings'. But WE THE PEOPLE voted him in – hanging chads nothing – it was close enough for a coin toss and shame on US for that – can ANY OF US say that we worked our butts off to prevent that in 2000? I think there was no need at all for a great speech, because it was already said over 40 years ago and it IS the Order of the Day – there is a ghost of the past that is speaking to us and saying “Ask not.”. Posted by Donna's World. I'm 65 years ...

Donna's World: May 2008
http://granmadonna.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 17, 2008. There's a few blogs I check on daily, and I love them. But I always wonder how they find the time to write on a more or less daily basis. Or is it that they simply have more interesting lives and thoughts to share? So, I checked in on them today as part of my daily computer routine. And felt guilty that I hadn't added to my site for a month, and decided to simply start writing stream of conscious style and see what comes out. So when Ellen announced she's getting married, it was ...

Donna's World: September 2008
http://granmadonna.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 23, 2008. I'm watching the Senate hearings on the 'bailout' legislation proposed to fix the economic mess in the financial markets. I won't hear what I feel I need to hear: just how bad is it, and what will happen if this bailout isn't done. . I know this sounds far-fetched, what I'm about to say. It sounds paranoid. My paranoia, if God-willing that's all it is, is that a certain brand of Republicans in fact are fully capable of moving as far as the Nazi's did: that beginning with Ne...

Donna's World: February 2009
http://granmadonna.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 12, 2009. Yesterday as I was reading the morning paper, I reached up to my right ear (itchy? Don't remember) and felt that my earring was missing. (The left one was still in.). Digression: this pair of pierced earrings that I wear, and rarely remove, are the ones that more or less match the wedding ring Jo placed on my hand at our commitment ceremony December 1997. The earrings were her 'wedding gift' to me. Point being, they are very important to me. So in great sadness, I had to giv...

Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Downer Thoughts . You Are Forewarned! I thought when I began this blog that I'd write every couple of days or so. It's been almost a month in between of late. Have watched/heard so much election news til I'm ready to gag. Also watched/heard so much bad economic news til I'm ready to just curl up under a blanket and play Rip van Winkle . hoping each time I wake to hear that 'this too has passed'. Not happening . not yet, anyway. I feel like he's running away from a rotten per...

Donna's World: Her Last Hour
http://granmadonna.blogspot.com/2009/06/her-last-hour.html
Sunday, June 14, 2009. Jo's 93 year old mom Edna passed from this life in the late evening of June 10, 2009. It was an hour I'll never forget and will remember with heart searing tears. Edna had said that she expected to live to 95. She didn't, though she tried and loved life so. The decision was not in her or our hands. But, she'd always asked that she be allowed to die at home. We couldn't quite do that but we did the next best thing and so she died in our home, surrounded by love. Then Faye stepped in...

Donna's World: Inauguration Meanderings
http://granmadonna.blogspot.com/2009/01/inauguration-meanderings.html
Friday, January 23, 2009. I expected an inauguaral address that would SOAR into history and tingle my soul. I've spent two days or more pondering the fact that this didn't happen: did I expect too much or did he not understand this need that I think we all felt "to be lifted up" after 8 years of being torn apart at our roots? I don't know the answer to that one, and I expect I never will. So I stopped waiting to absorb it anymore before writing here. I do look forward with hope for the future. I do r...
