I was born in Kenya and have lived all my life here. For thirty years I’ve been self-employed working on a freelance basis in the fields of tourism, conservation, natural history film-making, and writing. This has given me the opportunity to get to know many parts of the country as well as other equally enchanting areas of Africa.

In my mind, one of the most evocative of words. My first job in tourism was in the London office of a Kenya safari operator, and I spent the whole time there wishing I was at home! Back in Kenya, I took the first opportunity I could to get into the bush, and soon found myself managing a camp in the Masai Mara. One job led to another and a variety of camp management, safari guiding and camel trekking jobs followed. Although, for the main, I’ve focused on natural history documentary work.

For twenty years, I’ve worked as field assistant to wildlife film crews making natural history documentaries. My roles have included: researcher, wildlife advisor, driver, stills photographer, sound recordist, elapsed-time sequence filming, location facilitator, habituating wildlife, video recording, night filming and field producing. I’ve done some work on Final Cut Pro, in the field. I’ve been privileged to work with some of the world’s top wildlife film-makers, including Sir David Attenborough.
