CityBirding: Canny Day

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2015/05/canny-day.html

Sunday, 17 May 2015. This mornings trip to Fontburn brought some good views of Pied and Spotted Flycatchers as well as Treecreeper and Redpoll. Then after a pit stop back home I was out again to see the Boldon Flats, Temmincks Stint. Back through the tunnel and up to East Chevington to watch a Spoonbill, then on way home there was Wood Sandpiper, Ruff, three Barn Owls, one Short eared Owl at Druridge Pools. Stewchat...: May 2015

http://boulmerbirder.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 31, 2015. Its all down hill. A day of two halves today. Out birding with John this morning under heavy rain filled skies, seeing very little then out to Craster this afternoon in much sunnier conditions. But first, one of the years highlights for me, came not by staking out a mining subsidence pond in the Northumberland coalfields, no, but just by having a five minute sit in the garden. I remembered at about 6pm last night that this weekend is Garden Bioblitz. So this evening I have consulted...

Sedgedunum Warbler: Looking promising IF....

http://sedgedunumwarbler.blogspot.com/2015/08/looking-promising-if.html

Wednesday, 5 August 2015. The outflow channel is kept from blocking at Hauxley. I have little interest in the new hide they are building on the reserve. I seem to remember that the previous "hide" had double glazed windows that didn't open.i found the experience strange! Waders at Hauxley OMG. One of the young 'uns. A yellow Wagtail looked stunning beside Bells Farm cottages one morning in decent light ( for once). August 05, 2015 7:00 pm. August 06, 2015 1:19 am. Cheers Warren. Ive been enjoying you...

http://sedgedunumwarbler.blogspot.com/2015/05/spoon-no-fork-or-knife.html

Wednesday, 20 May 2015. Spoon No fork or knife. I had the pleasure to be in the company of Dave Elliot and a Spoonbill the other morning. A couple of not so good images. Some early morning action from the Cresswell Pond hide. May 21, 2015 1:18 pm. Superb Barn Owl image, what a great angle! May 21, 2015 1:18 pm. Superb Barn Owl image, what a great angle! May 21, 2015 11:38 pm. Paul, when i get praise from you for an owl image im rather chuffed, to say the least. May 28, 2015 6:50 pm. May 29, 2015 12:38 pm.

CityBirding: Newton

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2015/05/newton.html

Tuesday, 12 May 2015. A trip to Newton scrapes this afternoon was well worth it. Despite the manic wind, it was pleasing to see Lesser Yellowlegs, Pectorial Sandpiper, Greenshank, Common Sandpiper. Then North to Long Nanny where Arctic, Little and Sandwich Terns were on show. Now thats a canny days birding. 13 May 2015 at 22:32. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Stobswood and Felton Lane. CityBirding: November 2014

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 25 November 2014. Wheatears keep you fit. Thought this morning that I had better make the effort to visit Seaton Snook. I was familiar with the location of the car park at the north end of the bay so thought I'd use it and walk along the beach to the south end where the Isabelline Wheatear was reported. At the last minute I decided to walk down the track alongside the golf course to Zinc works. Faster I thought, wrong. Onto the beach and where is the throng? Yep, at the North end of the bay.

CityBirding: Prestwick Carr

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2015/04/prestwick-carr.html

Monday, 20 April 2015. While I stood quite still, like Ray Mears, this character came bounding up quite close, then spotted me, stopped, and didn't seem to be bothered one way or another before sloping off. Yip I seen 4 brown hares near marley mast in Saturday. Very nice. 21 April 2015 at 11:19. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). CityBirding: March 2015

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Friday, 20 March 2015. A walk along the river bank this morning produced some nice sightings of Kingfisher, Little Grebe, Dipper and two Grey Wagtail. Four Small Tortoiseshell were on the wing on the Spetchells. Wednesday, 18 March 2015. A walk onto Weetslade provided a cracking view of Yellowhammer. And looking fit to burst, heading toward a pond. Wednesday, 11 March 2015. Just a few splashes of colour today on a dull day. Tuesday, 10 March 2015. This Buzzard hovered over. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

CityBirding: August 2014

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 28 August 2014. At Big Waters outlet stream today, more dragons. Thought I would try to complete the task so rudely interrupted by the bees on the previous day, so I went back to Newburn and filled the box with blackberries. In one particularly small sheltered corner I was pleased to be able to watch six of these corkers hawking about. I was surprised to see how many coupled Common Darters were still in reproduction mode. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. Could have been worse. Monday, 18 August 2014.

nature north

A thirst for nature in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. Saturday, 3 January 2015. Saltholme with the kids. I had a bit of a wander with my two daughters today around Saltholme then up to the creek to see the seals. Stumbled across a Common Chiffchaff presumably overwintering around the verge between the visitor centre and the wildlife watchpoint and was able to photograph it from the hide on the fence to the left of the feeders. Thursday, 1 January 2015. Little Bustard, Fraisthorpe. Saturday, 1 November 2014.
