Nature Writer: A Sunday Stroll
http://naturewriter.blogspot.com/2009/04/sunday-stroll.html
The scribblings of amateur naturalists at Bernheim Forest. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. We next walked around the Two Ponds Loop. Chipping Sparrows supervised our visit to their neighborhood. We could hear a Common Yellowthroat, but he stayed hidden. And a male and female Song Sparrow announced the location of their nest. The survivors from the carnage over the ponds were scattered around, resting on the grass. One bug spotted by an NIT is pictured on our website. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Nature Writer: Old Hiking Stick
http://naturewriter.blogspot.com/2009/04/old-hiking-stick.html
The scribblings of amateur naturalists at Bernheim Forest. Monday, April 6, 2009. You were not straight. With knots and canker. Scarred skin like open wounds. Perfect was not your lot. It was lack of symmetry. Like you were set apart from. An outcast from mother’s xylem and phloem. And, yet, on that day. Your separateness claimed my eye in. Olive-hued, sun dappled wood. Where you rested alone. How could I have known. In my wanderin’ time. That you would stay with me. Through sleet and snow? With Winter&#...

I'll never figure out how they can hold a bug firmly in the beak, and sing or scold at the same time. They particularly like to sit on the chairs around the patio table while delivering dinner to the chicks. Are they calling to waken the babies? To make sure no predators are around? Life, Birding, Photos and Everything. I subscribe to the 4 F's of bird. Photography; Find 'em and Focus. Fast before they Fly away! Saturday, March 28, 2015. Brrrr-ding in the Bluegrass. It's March 28, and officially Spring, right? Then why was it 24 degrees in Louisville when I got up this morning? What happened to the warm breezes we had a few days ago? Then we noticed two Loons swimming beak to beak. They would dip their beaks in the water at the same time, then swim a circle around each other, di...

Asked the question, "What is interpretation? Since all of us were CIGs, we all should have known that answer easily, but silence filled the room. I always struggle with that term, yet no one has come up with a better term. NAI defines interpretation as "a mission-based communication process that forges emotional and inte...
