De Vereniging NCPH is in 1929 opgericht als De Nederlandsche Centrale voor Practische Werkverruiming en Hulpverlening en was tot de 70er jaren de moederstichting van de Groesbeekse Tehuizen. In de loop van de tijd heeft het begrip ‘Werkverruiming’ zijn praktische betekenis verloren. Daarom is de naam nu NCPH, Nederlandse Centrale voor Practische Hulpverlening, in de wandelgangen PH genoemd. De PH is een vereniging met leden. Drie van hen vormen het bestuur. De PH biedt afhankelijk van haar ter beschikking staande middelen, financiële ondersteuning bij het realiseren van projecten voor mensen met een verstandelijke en/of lichamelijke beperking en ouderen met een langdurige zorgvraag. De projectbijdragen hebben een tijdelijk karakter (maximaal drie jaar). Projectbijdragen zijn bedoeld om een project de tijd te geven de waarde ervan aan te tonen, financieel levensvatbaar te maken en maatschappelijk in te bedden. Overheadkosten worden in principe niet vergoed.
