Neal Rayner, the high school swimming coach who attempted to swim the English Channel, joined the exclusive club of around 700 men and women who have swum the channel since 1875. It took about 14 hours, 30 miles, 54,000 strokes, and thousands of calories during his successful swim on August 10, 2005. Neal is the most recent addition to a short list of famous UCLA Alumni.
