A day in the life of. He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home. Alright, so you're in Germany, hopefully you got yourself in to some temporary lodging and you are ready to start house hunting. (If you aren't ready to house hunt, and are looking for information on what to do before you get to Germany check out this page. For the early part of the process.). Living on the economy. Things are different in Germany than they were in the US - and probably even other OCONUS assignments...

Smerk's musings: October 2009
http://smerkau.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
The random and sporadic musings of me. Thursday, 8 October 2009. Unless you're not really committed to the relationship). There's the whole having a crappy day at work, and all you want is to go home and have a cuddle with your partner. Kinda difficult to do when they're on the other side of the planet. Or if you're unlucky with schedule timings, not even being able to talk to them for days on end. Despite the fact that I managed to catch a lurgy or two while I was there. Acci proposed. Over MSN....Final...

Sunday, August 21, 2005. Well, 'tis the night of the 21st of August, and on the morrow I leave for two weeks of sun, sea, sand, and sangria. No, sorry, I tell a lie. I leave for a fortnight of drizzle, England, and The Family. This should be. interesting. There's a lot of us going this year. My parents, my older sister and her husband, me and Matt, my younger brother, and my youngest brother, who's bringing his girlfriend. Nine people who are quiet and well-behaved would be quite a handful, but us lot?

Monday, October 31, 2005. My weekend was very up and down. So, if you're sitting comfortably, then I shall tell you about it. I woke up with a painful hand yesterday, which I can't explain as I didn't. And ate party food with a bunch of people. Entertainment was had by all. And hysterics. Down Very, very down:. We got home and found Baal was dead. Posted by Hieronymous Anonymous @ 11:52 am. Friday, October 28, 2005. Anyone for a quickie? In BDP news: walking under the BDP, I saw a fork-lift truck with tw...

Friday, April 28, 2006. I have been having a think about graffiti. Not the art kind (which has a purpose) or band names or whatever as 'advertisements' (see Alleschwindel. Or even funny phrases (see Plankton! After all, I'd have about half as many photos in this silly little webpage if it weren't for them. The ones I wonder about are the more prosaic ones. The 'I was ere' and its equivalents. Just. why? I mean, what's the point of scratching your name and the date into a wall, or biro-ing it on a door?

Monday, February 27, 2006. Family Matters (or does it? I've just got back from dropping my cousin off at the station. She's been here since Thursday night. Here's some observations and anecdotes of my last 93 hours. We started heaving this damn bag up the hill. We managed to get a bus for one stop, just to save time, then I got to carry the bag up the rest of the hill myself. We got to the flat road to the station, and J. said "Oh look, the bag has wheels! I can't raise my arms any more. She also said I ...

Tuesday, September 27, 2005. Raindrops and noses and whiskers on kittens. Somethingty something and somethingty mittens. It would be sad if the poor kittens had no noses. Or, y'know, raindrops. Yes, it's random facts day again today. There is, after all, naught of excitement under the BDP bar about 50 buttons that someone has left, and the odd large branch that has come down in the wind. Today is brought to you by the number. er. 13. And the letter X. Most animals, really. Thursday, September 22, 2005.
