Nettlebed Creamery is home to two cheeses made with organic milk from Merrimoles Farm which spans the vilages of Nettlebed and Bix. The farm has been organic since 2001 and its healthy, robust herd comprises of a three way cross of Montbeliardes, Swedish Reds and Holstein Fresians. The cows graze on grass and clover leys with additional herbs such as chicory, plantain and yarrow. The quality of the milk and the terroir of the farm is expressed wonderfully in the unpasteurised cheeses.

St Bartholomew cheese is made from raw cow's milk. Raw or 'unpasteurised' milk can be suspected by some, but in fact many of the best farmhouse cheeses in the world as made from it. Andy Swinscoe at The Courtyard Dairy has written an excellent article. Covering the differences between pasteurised and unpasteurised cheeses. Fen Farm, who make the delicious Baron Bigod cheese from raw milk, have also covered the subject in some detail on their website.

Nettlebed Folk Club was started in July 1975 by a group of Folk Song lovers from Maidenhead in Berkshire when the tenant of a local public house moved to the Bull Inn at Nettlebed, nr.
