Go to junction 5 and take the A21 towards Sevenoaks and Hastings. Carry on for about 24 miles until you get to the traffic lights at Flimwell. Now turn left on the A268 towards Rye and go through Hawkhurst and Sandhurst, then, about 8 miles from Flimwell, you are here. Or the Channel Tunnel. From Charing Cross/Waterloo East/Cannon Street/London Bridge either on the Hastings line. To Etchingham or on the Ashford line. To Staplehurst. Then you will need a taxi from there to Newenden - about 9 miles.

The Rother provides coarse angling for members of The Rother Fishery Association. But day tickets are also available. Saint Peter's Church in Newenden is an early 14th-c. church, well worth a visit even if you are not attending a service. But there are (C. of E.) services at 9.15 every Sunday morning (other times at major holidays). There are plenty of public footpaths through Newenden and beyond, offering views, nature, exercise and relaxation. Why not take a stroll out to Castle Toll. Play on the swings.
