Friday, April 15, 2011. Life Is About Learning Part 2. There's nothing like walking to your car early in the morning and noticing a flat tire. We took Alvin's car instead to drive Audrey to her swim lesson. When we returned, Alvin thought it was time for me to learn how to change a tire. Either somebody really hates me or I'm unlucky because this flat marks the 5th in the last 2 years. The other 4 was discovered at work. I really didn't want to learn this dirty job. But it was time. Day 2: Ready to pedal.

The Restless Brain: Moving, Moving, Moving
http://therestlessbrain.blogspot.com/2011/07/moving-moving-moving.html
Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Moving, Moving, Moving. I am not a runner. In fact, I am not an athletic person at all. Growing up, the only sport I really participated in was swimming and really I only did that in the "I swim on the country club's summer swim team mostly so my parents can socialize" kind of way. I didn't like balls coming at me, or balls that I had to chase (really? What's the point of that? And so I just avoided most sports completely and willingly accepted myself as "non-athletic.". I have ...

The Restless Brain: April 2009

Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Today is election day in our city. It also happens to be the first election since my dad died. I expected to be a bit more emotional as I stepped into the polling booth, but this turned out to be one of those moments that you expect to be hard, but really isn't in reality. I'm sure it would have been different if he had been on the ballot of course, but today's election only represents what was to have been the half-way point in his term. . It's hard to believe that it has been ju...

Thursday, July 31, 2008. Don't you. forget about JCPenney. Has anyone else seen the new JCPenney back to school commercial? It's a homage to "The Breakfast Club" and it makes me smile every time I see it. (I'd look for it on YouTube and post it here but I haven't been having any luck with that lately.). I can't help but wonder as I watch it though, where is the cutoff? I mean, obviously my son has no idea that's it's a spoof of a classic movie. so at what age do they make the connection? Of course, it's ...

Monday, June 30, 2008. A New Little Miracle. I am apparently getting older than I like to think. Two nights ago I stayed up all night - for a total of 39 hours awake - to be a doula at a birth, along with a friend of mine. 17 hours is an extraordinary amount of time to labor and I am awed by what this couple did. And I say couple because the father was absolutely unwavering in his support, and unlike many fathers he was present both physically and mentally. It was beautiful to watch. The mother is a past...

http://themazfam.blogspot.com/2010/12/2010-year-in-review.html
Tuesday, December 21, 2010. I think I said this last year, but thinking about this past year I can't help but think, how the heck did we fit it all in! So here it goes. our 2010 year in review. What's the best way to kick off a year? In February, my arm was twisted to play in an all day Polar Volleyball Tournament. Ummm, for someone that doesn't like snow or being cold, that just sounded like a horrible idea to me! However, I caved in and gave it a shot and had an absolute blast! Arch, dinner at Union St...
