New York Adventures

Tuesday, June 07, 2011. I recall that my last post in Berlin. Was pretty easy to write. The year had far exceeded all of my expect- ations. I met some incredible people and was immensely grateful for all of the opportunities provided to me. I wanted to stay but was looking forward to seeing family and friends and starting a new job. The last weekend was perfect. I couldn't resist one more visit to the Union Square Market on Saturday, where I enjoyed a chai latte from MUD. Why would I stay? I met Daniel a...

New York Adventures: March 2007

http://newyorkadventures.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 30, 2007. Life Beyond the Heights. Brooklyn extends beyond Brooklyn Heights? I had a most wonderful evening on Tuesday checking out Boerum Hill and Fort Greene. (And by "checking out" I mean I went to one place in each neighborhoodbut heh, it’s a start.). Stop #2 was the Stonehome Wine Bar. In Fort Greene. What a gem! We sat inside, but there was a cozy patio out back that would be fun to take advantage of in the summer. As long as you skip the shrimp, you should definitely try Stonehome.

New York Adventures: Di Fara Pizza

http://newyorkadventures.blogspot.com/2007/12/di-fara-pizza.html

Monday, December 24, 2007. Our Brooklyn Adventure continued to Avenue J,. We heard Di Fara made such great pizza we couldn’t stay away. We passed the Vietnamese and Hassidic neighborhoods,. I told Matt to drive as fast as he coulds. Di Fara is the highest rated pizza in Zagat,. Made in a pizzeria that time has forgot. Dom the owner, makes EVERY pie on his own,. Sometimes the line is long, but people don’t moan. He spreads the sauce from San Marzano, and sprinkles on hand-shredded mozzarella,.

New York Adventures: Hip in the Heights

http://newyorkadventures.blogspot.com/2011/05/hip-in-heights.html

Saturday, May 28, 2011. Hip in the Heights. Men in Black 3 is filming in the Heights and Cobble Hill today, but the real star was on Clark Street. This hip hound would pop out of the sun roof every few minutes this afternoon creating minor paparazzi frenzies. Posted by Erin at 2:32 PM. Links to this post:. American in Berlin: 8/28/05 - 9/4/05

http://berlinadventures.blogspot.com/2005_08_28_archive.html

Saturday, September 03, 2005. Friday was a very interesting exercise in international relations. Our group of 20 visited the German Defense Ministry. Though the Americans asked questions about the future of conscription in the German military and long term strategy, the Russian fellows were most interested in why NATO still exists and more importantly why it is expanding towards Russia. As many already know, NATO is my favorite international organization (let the geek jokes begin! Posted by Erin @ 4:37 PM.

Here’s the general commentary:. 1 You want me to do what before I enter the party? 2 You’re joking right? 3 Through the teeth and through the gums, watch out tummy here it comes! 4 Pickle chaser, pickle chaser. 5 Feel the burn! American in Berlin: 10/16/05 - 10/23/05

http://berlinadventures.blogspot.com/2005_10_16_archive.html

Tuesday, October 18, 2005. In a land far, far away from the sterile conference rooms of DC think tanks, a young American entered the Green Salon of the Volksbuehne (People’s Theater) in Berlin. Stuffed green couches, green lounge chairs and 1920’s-style chandeliers decorated the room. Cigarette smoke hung in the air, illuminated by the theater lights. An eclectic mix of Berliners nursed their first drinks of the evening. Posted by Erin @ 12:13 PM. View my complete profile. Erica Goes to Kenya.

American in Berlin: 10/2/05 - 10/9/05

http://berlinadventures.blogspot.com/2005_10_02_archive.html

Thursday, October 06, 2005. As many people are aware, I watched WAY too much reality television in the US. You name it: Survivor, the Amazing Race, Princes of Malibu, The Osbournes, Newlyweds. I think I saw everything at least once. I hoped I would break my terrible habit in Germany. Germany has lots of public television with documentaries and variety shows with lederhosen-wearing singers, right? Well yes, this is true. But Germany is also not lacking in the reality programming department. So there you h...

Friday, October 14, 2005. Since I was negligent in posting this week, here are a collection of my thoughts and observations:. 1 For the bargain price of 3000 euros, you can buy your very own gold-leaf keyboard and mouse from KaDeWe. 2 My grocery store sells strawberry shortcake flavored yogurt- Delicious! 3 I am happy to report that the trend of wearing brightly colored jeans seems to be over in Berlin! http://berlinadventures.blogspot.com/2005_08_21_archive.html

Saturday, August 27, 2005. I arrived in Bonn yesterday and am enjoying being in Germany again. This does not mean that I am not mildly freaking out about my decision to move to Germany, but as long as I am living in the moment I am having a great time. I've already had my first scoop of ice cream, first falafel sandwich and paid for my first grocery bag! The hotel is great (pictures to come tomorrow) and the weather is in the high 60's-low 70's! Erin's observations of the day:. Who has a salt sale? Track...

American in Berlin: 9/4/05 - 9/11/05

http://berlinadventures.blogspot.com/2005_09_04_archive.html

Saturday, September 10, 2005. God Bless the USA. Last night was "America Night" the American scholars presented their vision of America to the Russian fellows. After much debate about what to do, we prepared a potluck dinner, played American music and then played a game of Jeopardy with US-, German-, Russian- and orientation seminar- related questions. As a most important side note, I would like to thank everyone who has left comments on the blog. I have tried to reply to as quickly as possible, but ...
