The Last Palace: 05/29/07
http://lastpalace.blogspot.com/2007_05_29_archive.html
Tuesday, May 29, 2007. The Myth That Wouldn't Sit Still, Part 2. On May 29, 1977, a Sunday, I finally got myself down to the Loews Astor Plaza. Off Times Square, to see what all the hubbub was about. If you're following the Edward Copeland-hosted Star Wars. I'm sure you'll find no shortage of memoirs and reminiscences of May 1977 and the variety of first-ever Star Wars. So I'll just lift it wholesale here: “It's. as corny as Kansas in August- and a masterpiece.”. Probably the most gratifying thing. And i...

The Last Palace: 10/15/07
http://lastpalace.blogspot.com/2007_10_15_archive.html
Monday, October 15, 2007. The lazy fleeting days of Summer '07 are past. I know that now. Scarf days are here. The gals on the city streets are knocking around in boots again. People are beating it indoors. (No one says beat it. Anymore. No one says whaddayou, kiddin’ me? Anymore either). The good thing about fall weather is it gives you new resolve, though. So here are my fall resolutions:. 2) writing “The Myth That Wouldn't Sit Still, Part 3”. 3) getting through my Outer Limits (Original Series).

The Last Palace: Thursday’s Palace #1: The Lafayette
http://lastpalace.blogspot.com/2007/10/thursdays-palace-1-lafayette.html
Thursday, October 18, 2007. Thursday’s Palace #1: The Lafayette. I've chosen the awesome Lafayette Theater. In downtown Suffern, NY as my inaugural Thursday Palace. You can read all about it here. At their official site and here. At a surprisingly in-depth Wikipedia entry; suffice for me to say that while Suffern is a bit out of the way for most frantic Manhattanites, it is well worth the fare and hour train ride to reclaim the nearly-forgotten institution of the Saturday matinee. Last but not least.

Friday, May 25, 2007. The Myth That Wouldn't Sit Still, Part 1. Compare the picture you just shot. So why is everyone pissed off at George Lucas. One of the avowed masters of the digital age, for not being being able to keep his story straight? Is it Star Wars. Or is it Episode IV: A New Hope. Is Darth Vader the villain or the hero? And last but far from least: did Han Solo shoot first, or did Greedo? And changed, well, everything. Most of the praise and. By overlapping past and future,. The alien and th...

hatchets and skewers: tri a little tenderness
http://hatchetsandskewers.blogspot.com/2011/09/tri-little-tenderness.html
Cutting edge contemporary art. Monday, September 26, 2011. Tri a little tenderness. Well, the fight is over. The tent has been taken down; the balloons have all been popped; the podiums have been carted off; the fitness equipment has dried out and been moved back to the gym (without anyone getting electrocuted, thank goodness). There's a champion and there's a loser.and that loser is me! Which leads me to say this: Thank you everyone for making the first annual (will there be others? For posting our pres...
