All posts by niamhsmith. Beowulf – A Thousand Years of Baggage. July 7, 2011. There are many things I am looking forward to at the 2011 Kilkenny Arts Festival. From the first moment I heard the words rock-opera. Though, I was intrigued. I had been wondering what would be the thing this year that everyone would be talking about? The universal topic separating. Among the crowd of friendly strangers and new friends at the arts festival. Last year, without a doubt, it was The Smile Off Your Face. Each of the...

Kilkenny Arts Festival 2011 Theatre and Dance Strand. June 29, 2011. The Kilkenny Arts Festival. Launched this morning in the grounds of the beautiful IMMA in Dublin amid the song of a Baroque Choir. Or so I am told as I couldn’t make it along. Has taken on the Theatre and Dance Strand and again it looks magical, as it did last year. I’m very excited about the festival again this year! Or by signing up for email updates at the bottom of the homepage. And let’s not forget YouTube. Is a riotous, award-winn...
The Smile Off Your Face at Kilkenny Arts Festival | Niamh Smith

The Smile Off Your Face at Kilkenny Arts Festival. August 9, 2010. Rothe House, High Street, Kilkenny. Friday 6th August 2010, 8pm. I had read on the Kilkenny Arts website. About The Smile Off Your Face. And had found it intriguing, particularly “You are blindfolded, you are in a wheelchair, tied up. There is no stage.”. What could it be? What would happen to me inside the darkness of a blindfold where my imagination and senses of sound and smell were all I had at my disposal? I couldn’t not. Click to sh...

Niamh's Labyrinth | Wandering the Crooked Path
Wandering the Crooked Path. Battle Fury, or Fear Bound? Bull;May 8, 2013 • 1 Comment. From me. Holding anger is a poison. It eats you from inside. We think that hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred. Is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves. Mitch Albom. It’s not being angry that is unhealthy – it’s holding on to it, like grief or sorrow, which is damaging and harmful. All anger stems from fear. Betrays your trust and tells others secrets about things you h...
Niamh Slack's Art News
Niamh Slack's Art News. Friday, October 12, 2012. Last year at the RDS I had the opportunity once again to meet gallery owners, and following our meetings I was invited to exhibit in two new galleries. A number of my seascapes are now hanging in 'Kenny's Gallery'. In Lahinch. This is a spacious gallery run by Carmel Kenny, and it's a lovely gallery space. I have also been exhibiting work in a beautiful new gallery called 'Gallery @ No. Six'. Tuesday, August 2, 2011. And on to Kilkenny. Is a beautiful spa...

Niamh's Language Blog – Learning Languages in a world of words
Niamh's Language Blog. Learning Languages in a world of words. Let’s give English some attention. Below are some examples of how entertainingly (for me) difficult and amazing English is for beginners:. 1Everything and nothing can rhyme in English:. 2 Sometimes sentence formation can surprise you:. 3 Plurals are better off to be left alone. 4 Phonemes come with many different disguises. 5 You think you’ve learned how to pronounce a word…….until you meet its twin!
