Siberian HolbЯooks: October 2011
http://siberianholbrooks.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 30, 2011. We have a lot of pictures on the camera of things that were interesting, but there's not a whole story to weave a blog around. Today is a bunch of miscellaneous, unconnected pictures. Enjoy! They have an interesting way of doing curbing here. The curbs are all preformed. They dig a trench, "drop" them in place and then put asphalt around them. The wide lip gets buried. It's usually a pretty tall step up to the sidewalk. You thought potholes in Utah are bad? The Russian women lov...

Siberian HolbЯooks: FEEDING THE MISSIONARIES
http://siberianholbrooks.blogspot.com/2012/08/feeding-missionaries.html
Sunday, August 5, 2012. Dave spent several hours in preparation and at the stove. We couldn't offer all the options we usually have at home, but we did as much as we could and improvised. They could choose from ham/shredded chicken, cheese (we're not sure what kind it was), BBQ sauce/mustard/mayo, pickles/tomatoes/corn/. A bag of sgrushyonka. Elder Turley (Tremonton, Utah), looking over the options and trying to decide what he wanted. Elder Прокопцев or Prokoptsev (Latvia) hamming it up for the camera.

Siberian HolbЯooks: January 2012
http://siberianholbrooks.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 29, 2012. We only rode on a train once in our first five months in Russia, and that was when we arrived. Since moving to Novokuznetsk we've ridden a train several times to attend conferences or go on a visa trip. Most of the time we get a купе (pronounced coo-peh, a private sleeping compartment) on an overnight train to and from N'sibirsk. It takes about 7 hours and we can mostly. We thought it was cute that they treated the play area like their home- notice the boots on the floor at the ...

Siberian HolbЯooks: August 2012

Sunday, August 26, 2012. As we've sorted through our pictures lately we've discovered a lot of "single" pictures- little stories centered around one picture, but not enough for a whole blog, so today's blog is made up of a variety of things we've enjoyed here. This is from the Sunday we had record attendance. We loved having 39 people there that day. Games at FHE are a must each week. One popular one is "Do You Love Your Neighbor? We had another baptism a while back. It just happened to be scheduled ...

Sunday, December 25, 2011. We aren't sending out Christmas cards this year (as usual), but we do want to send Christmas greetings. Here is a quote we recently read we'd like to share:. For each of you may this be a merry Christmas,. But more importantly,. I wish for each of you a time,. Perhaps only an hour,. Spent in the silent meditation and. Quiet reflection on the wonder. And the majesty of this,. The Son of God. Our joy at this season is because. He came into the world. The peace that comes from Him,.

Sunday, May 27, 2012. Two playgrounds, one for each set of apartments next to each other. They often paint old tires and use them for decoration and borders at playgrounds and in gardens. They even encourage the children to play with animals. A dog, giraffes, a snake ;). We think this is a school playground. Both here and in N'sibirsk we've seen new playgrounds installed this year. It is so delightful to hear the kids laughing and enjoying being outside. Spring is great, no matter where you are! There is...
