Tulbagh-Tulbagh Stage 3. Day 4: 90km. Out and back as quickly as you can. That’s how it goes…We zig zagged through the Tulbagh valley. The pace was blistering and the temperature hotter. I was excited to see our friend, Tam, watching on the sidelines as we rode close to the farm we were staying at. The day ended well with pizza and a visit from our mate, Roland. What a rough start to the 10th Cape Epic. 96km is not too bad but when you add a 7km sand dune climb and 13 more kms of flattish beach-type sand, you finish looking like this pic above (taken by Raoul De Jongh). DONATING OURSELVES TO THE ORGAN DONOR FOUNDATION. Behind our strange obsession with competing in this ‘hors catérgorie’ event is the ambition to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Organ Donor Foundation. Citrasdal for Stage 1. After the Prologue we packed up and headed north. En Route to Citrasdal we get to see the contrasting beauty of the Western Cape. Upon arriving at a very hot Citrasdal we dibs our tents and Stu checks out the profile for Stage 1 (Day 2) of the Cape Epic. There are great route profile stickers of each stage for our bikes.
