I Couldn’t Remember Their Names. Posted by Anne Siegrist. Asymp; 7 Comments. Two acquaintances died lately and I couldn’t remember their correct names! Bicycle Pete used to be our neighbor years ago and eventually moved to Jasper, married and moved in with his in-laws. Bicycle Pete died, my husband told me the other day. That’s not his real name, I said. What was his real name? I wouldn’t be selling it to you if it didn’t, Bicycle Pete answered. I paid him the $2 and took it home. It didn’t work&...Her s...

Why Do I Dream These Things? Posted by Anne Siegrist. Asymp; Leave a comment. Wonder why my mind concocts such strange and intricate dreams:. Dr Mark and his wife Kathy bought a house in a run-down section of Corning and one day while we were there visiting, there was a horrible explosion. The sky over Corning became very black and we jumped in the car to see where this had happened. We found about five buildings destroyed and turned around to go back to the Shelly house. 25 Random Thoughts Etc. Posted by Anne Siegrist. Asymp; 4 Comments. 1 I was born in New Holland PA. 2 My father was a schoolteacher in New Holland and sold apples during the summer on the street because it was The Great Depression. 3 My mother was alone when I was born and she saved my life by unwinding the cord from my neck. 4 I nearly died from pneumonia at age 1. 5 My parents moved to Tampa Florida where we lived until I was about 8. 6 A very strange couple lived on the other side of our hibiscus hedge.

There’s No Great Loss Without Some Small Gain. Posted by Anne Siegrist. Asymp; 4 Comments. One particularly hot summer a hailstorm wiped out their crops in a few minutes. The family scooped up the ice and made ice cream. There was no great loss without some small gain, and that ice cream was so delicious! But what was wrong with me when I thought of this in connection with the Amish accident? You will not separate those children! But the Amish live in community. What affects one of them affects all o...

The Amishman Comes Back. Posted by Anne Siegrist. Asymp; 3 Comments. The guest finally left and I discovered it was an Amish man. I called to Don and he came over and joined me under the trees. 8220;What was that all about? 8221; I asked. 8220;Remember the young Amish man who said he was getting married in three weeks and he wanted our farm? 8221; Of course I remembered! 8220;That was two years ago,” I said. 8220;Well, it must have been longer ago than that because he now has three children.”. Posted by Anne Siegrist. Asymp; 7 Comments. One Sunday we drove slowly along a road new to us and suddenly came upon a grove of small trees or large bushes, all beautifully dressed in deep pink blossoms. “What are they? Posted by Anne Siegrist. Asymp; 3 Comments. Next Sunday the building where my grandparents were superintendents of a children’s home will officially be re-named The Sauder House in their honor. They would never have admitted to being pleased at the re-naming of the building and they would certainly not have been proud. Levi and Lydia had a son John and then later adopted a boy from the children’s home. His name was Richard. My father was the first child and when he was married with four sma...We owned a ...

It’s Been 57 Years Already? Posted by Anne Siegrist. Asymp; 6 Comments. Today is the 57th anniversary of our wedding. I’m sure I’m not the first to notice this, but marriage is hard. We married too young and we kept messing up. Even if you are rushed and time is limited, a scripture verse in the morning is good. Laugh a lot! If someone had warned me what the future would hold if I married Don, I would have said, “No, thanks. I don’t have the courage to face that.” But we didn...Larr; Previous post.
