Staging 'Romeo and Juliet' with privileged boys and underprivileged girls in Jaipur, India. In summer 2011, I designed and conducted a one-month Drama Workshop at Neerja Modi School. In Jaipur, India, a school which mixes over 3,000 underprivileged and more privileged 11-19 year-old pupils. We worked on a variety of improvisation techniques, chorus exercises and eventually performed Shakespeare's emblematic 'Romeo and Juliet'. All site contents/images 2010-16 Julien Dugnoille.

John in Jaipur: Namaste!
http://johninjaipur.blogspot.com/2008/09/namaste.html
My Experiments with Education. Monday, September 8, 2008. Today marks the beginning of my 3rd week teaching at the Neerja Modi School (NMS) in Jaipur. So far, things are going remarkably well. The students seem excited to have a foreign teacher (although they have a difficult time understanding my American accent) and they are motivated to learn—which hasn’t always been my experience teaching in the U.S. In honor of this Great Soul, I will close my first entry with some of his words on Education:. How to...

My Experiments with Education. Thursday, October 23, 2008. The Funky Buddha Cafe. This post comes to you from “The Funky Buddha Café” in Kathmandu, Nepal. After a journey to hell and back (literal not metaphorical), I have my new India Visa! I’m now off to do a week of Himalaya trekking in the Annapurna Sanctuary before making the 3-day trip back to Jaipur via bus/train, which is sure to be another adventure. So, I’ve now been in India over 4 months. I’ve completed my unit with grades IV and VI. The Prin...

My Experiments with Education. Friday, March 13, 2009. After a 5-month hiatus from the Blogosphere, I’m back with a final concluding post on my final day at NMS/Nischay. I will now attempt to summarize the whole of my experiences, trials and tribulations, hopes and dreams, in one all-encompassing paragraph. Wait…that’s not going to be possible. So, here are the highlights of the last portion of my volunteer experience:. Choreographed the Waltz scene in NMS’s musical production of Mamma Mia! 2 Be Prepared...

John in Jaipur: September 2008
http://johninjaipur.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
My Experiments with Education. Monday, September 29, 2008. Note: This entry was started last Sunday, Sept.21, and is now being finished today, Monday, Sept.29th). It has been a very trying past week. My remarks from the first post now seem a little naïve and overly optimistic. Things are no longer going “remarkably well”, which is not to say I’m disliking the experience (I'm very much enjoying it! But rather that the experience is proving to be more challenging than anticipated. Well said, Mr. Einste...
