Sophie Caldwell: October 2014
http://sophiecaldwell.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Park City camp has come to a close for most of my teammates, but I'm sticking around for another week to do some more dryland and hammer the physical therapy while I have access to the US Team support. Most of the team headed north to Canmore to do some skiing at Frozen Thunder. The skiing looks good and the skiers look fast, so be sure to follow their updates! I also have a set of wonderful teammates who showed up to my treadmill intervals as cheerleaders. The SMS T2 team ce...

Ski Young: January 2015

Monday, January 12, 2015. You Can't Fake (Classic) Skiing. I remember being told a while ago by someone (I can't remember who) you can't fake classic skiing. At the time I got what he said. Classic skiing involves much more "stuff" I guess you could say, than skating. You have to mess around with kick wax to start, and sloppy technique means herringboning the uphills. So I would agree that you can't fake classic skiing. Some great classic skiing at the Rikert Eastern Cup. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://www.skiyoung.com/2015/07/the-bend-project.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2015. This Fall, the experience is going to change again with the release of Bend. The first professionally shot nordic ski film to be released in the United States. Is the brain child of Charles Kahn. Kahn, a nordic skier, grew up in rural Vermont and founded Kahn Industry Films during his freshman year of high school. Always searching for adventure, he has come to film some really awesome things through Kahn Industries over the last seven years. Getting the shot on sight. Despite thes...

Tuesday, July 21, 2015. 4 months have passed since the Junior National Championships in Truckee, CA - which I still find hard to believe - but there are only 8 months until Junior Nationals in Cable, WI. If you want to be skiing fast this winter, you got to be training hard this summer! Hopefully this video will get you out there to #ChaseIt. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. This Fall, the experience is going to change again with the release of Bend. Getting the shot on sight. The four man crew of Bend. Was not e...

Saturday, August 30, 2014. Lake Placid Week One. Here are some photos from our week so far. Group of girls working together during a double pole workout (Matt Whitcomb photo). The coaches put together a couple video clips for us to watch before each workout that highlight some good technique that we might want to work on. Here is the group before a classic day watching some World Cup footage of Marit Bjorgen and Therese Johaug (Matt Whitcomb photo). The start of one of our heats (Bryan Fish photo). Jessi...

No Place Like Homes: August 2014
http://noplacelikehomes.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
No Place Like Homes. Friday, August 22, 2014. With all apologies to Al Kissane, I have to say that it was surprisingly mild. I'll stick to Copper Cone. I dunno, you'd think Coloradans could handle strongly flavored beers right now given how numbed their tastes buds are. But anyway the views were nice. To be too brief, Ranita and Sean sure have two cute daughters, though they were practically Paparazzi-proof, and I could only really capture Samaya on film. From Baltimore at Two Amy's. Good pizza, too.

No Place Like Homes: October 2014
http://noplacelikehomes.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
No Place Like Homes. Sunday, October 19, 2014. Well, where to begin after such a long hiatus? Maybe with the funniest story of the fall. To celebrate Tom’s 50th birthday, a few of the fellas hit downtown for a guys’ night (and wow, where did all those people come from . who knew Salt Lake was such a real city Saturday mornings at 2 am? The bearded hipster bouncer’s response, and a completely. Nonironic one at that? 8220;What’s the AARP? But just for the record, we were all quite reasonably sober.). Sure ...

Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Since arriving up on Eagle Glacier in a very tired state from. Previous weeks of hard training, I had to make a theme for myself in order to make it through the coming. In Europe. Global warming. Means slushy, man-made, dirty snow conditions throughout the winter. So when the going gets tough on Eagle with some deep slushy glacier snow, I know I am truly practicing my trade! So, back to my original problem. I. A little R and R in the rocks (Zuzana photo). Errari a cookie, my racing.
