A tour of Ghana.

Life After Bronwen: July 2007
http://lifeafterbronwen.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Triffids, Jelly Monsters, and the Big Stick Solution. The seemingly never-ending saga of the roof construction is, surprisingly enough, not yet ended. The "Airway" men have swooped in once more, woven various bits and pieces to the top of the main house, and glided off into the sunset once more on a mission to harvest essential grasses from their avian lair. Who knows when they will return? At least we now have something that. Looks vaguely roof-like atop the house now. We ended u...

Life After Bronwen: We're still alive...!

Thursday, April 10, 2008. No excuses - Takoradi and the internet is too far away. Family visits ,my new fear of being too far away from the sea and home (it's too hot! And another case of a broken camera. The house is still not finished,. My mum and Roger visited for a week - we played lots of scrabble and drank coconut. The dry season is severely testing our water resources. The house is still not finished. Jamie has started Ceto Tours taking people on trips around Ghana. The house is still not finished.

Life After Bronwen: May 2007

Tuesday, May 29, 2007. Higher and Higher, Baby. Things (ie: life) here in Ghana keep going forward, backwards, up, down and sideways, depending on the time of day, mood of bureaucrats, and whims of the weather. Despite setbacks, we seem to be moving generally forwards - the house keeps growing vertically, and we even have the semblance of a first floor to call our own! From the drivers seat before we could start the day. To cap it all, Francis has taken particular pride in his (by now very unseasonable) ...
Life After Bronwen: November 2007
http://lifeafterbronwen.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 30, 2007. Putting the finishing touches to the terrazo floor. Part of the floor is tiled - this part will be the kitchen, as opposed to the rusty old camping table we use at the moment. The kitchen carcasses are taking an age to make - I hope it's worth it. Our carpenter make the finishing touches to our bed - solid mahogony and slightly heavy! PLus 2 matching singles for the second bedroom. ( or you can sleep al fresco if you prefer). Life After Bronwen: September 2007

Friday, September 14, 2007. Hippos on Holiday, Beads, Mud and Tanks. Oh, and we also met the winner of the all-Ghana meanest man-trap competition. Thank god it wasn't primed and laying in wait for us in the mud! For the next 12 months anyway. Maybe we'll see the hippos next time? Posted by Claire and Jamie in a mud hut in Ghana. Life After Bronwen: Back to mud building
http://lifeafterbronwen.blogspot.com/2008/07/back-to-mud-building.html
Friday, July 11, 2008. Back to mud building. Getting ever closer to finishing the house ready for business, we decided it was time to build a security hut. Building the framework with bush sticks and bamboo. Starting the roof while Emmanuel picks his teeth. Carrying the roofing bamboo ready to be split for the roof. Emmanuel and JB filling the walls with mud. Happy workers and our sandy path. All is wonderful now (apart from the bailer twine holding it all together! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Life After Bronwen: April 2008
http://lifeafterbronwen.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 15, 2008. All work and no play. We have had lots of reasons to avoid/delegate work recently, not least some new chairs to sit on. (sister Sarah and co. hiding in the shadows). New neighbours, in the form of our Swedish friends Mike and Julia, now living in our mud hut. Mike is a carpenter so he had the task of hanging the door to the outside toilet of the "beach braai" area. Finishing touches to the veranda with locally grown raffia sticks mean Francis and Sarikwame don't need help. Sarah,...

Nomad Africa Adventure Tours. Africa Adventure Tours and Overlanding Stories by Nomad. Who is Nomad Africa Adventure Tours? BY: CHEMONE CARPENTER 2012-11-19. The very first time I ever came to the realization that I was going to be skydiving was literally when I was in the activity centre in Swakopmund. My pa...
