Gerry's Bees: New bees in Marion
http://gerrysbees.blogspot.com/2014/06/new-bees-in-marion.html
A beginning beekeeper's journal. Saturday, June 14, 2014. New bees in Marion. I really didn't think I'd be able to find and buy a package of bees so late into the season, but I guess they are late coming up from Georgia. I bought a 3 lb package of bees along with a queen. I picked them up yesterday and installed them today in the hive. Watch me install bees. Posted by Gerry Canelli. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. New bees in Marion. Posted Aug 9, 2016, 6:14 PM. I'm back to the dark side, and this time with a Df. Holding my Df was an awesome experience, and it brought back so many good memories of when I started with a Nikon FM. There's something fun about being able to change so many settings using knobs, it felt so natural and the layout was intuitive. As for the AF system.it can keep up with my boys and that's what counts for me, being able to put non-AI glass on it is just icing on the cake. The Three Big Dragons. All I can say i...

Gerry's Bees: Looking good
http://gerrysbees.blogspot.com/2011/06/looking-good.html
A beginning beekeeper's journal. Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Between the poor weather and me being so busy of late, I have not had the opportunities to really get inside the hives to properly check on the bees. I do check the outside activity almost daily and can easily see lots of flights coming and going, can see many pollen laden bees landing, I assume all is OK on the inside. I'll post pictures as soon as I transfer them from the camera. Posted by Gerry Canelli. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Gerry's Bees: 2011 has come and almost gone
http://gerrysbees.blogspot.com/2011/09/2011-has-come-and-almost-gone.html
A beginning beekeeper's journal. Sunday, September 25, 2011. 2011 has come and almost gone. Well, I had the best intentions this year - to blog as much as I did the first year, chronicling my adventures with the bees as a second year beekeeper. What happened? Ever wonder what it takes to make honey? How many flowers will a bee need to collect nectar from to make one tablespoon of honey? The answer is 2000 flowers. How many flowers does a bee visit to make a pound of honey? Posted by Gerry Canelli. Resesk...

Gerry's Bees: May 2011
http://gerrysbees.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
A beginning beekeeper's journal. Sunday, May 1, 2011. Only $5 per nuc. I looked at the stinger in my thumb, and my first thought was to walk in and show Colin the stinger in my hand when I saw the end was pulsing, pumping it's venom into my thumb! I scraped it out with my other thumb nail and went inside. No problem with the sting - no adverse reaction. Lots of activity around the hive, yet by dusk, all had settled in to their new homes. Gerry's Bees: 2012
http://gerrysbees.blogspot.com/2012/03/2012.html
A beginning beekeeper's journal. Tuesday, March 27, 2012. I have a new bee resolution for the coming year, and that is to blog more. I am thrilled to say that both of my hives have survived through the "winter" months. The unusually warm temperatures here in March have seen the bees out for many of the days bringing in pollen - just look at those colored and full pollen sacs in the picture below. I hope it'll be (bee? A good year for all bees. Location: Barnstable Rd,Norfolk,United States.
