The Big Idea: April 2009
http://quiltthebigidea.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
A group blog for Design Camp quilters. Sunday, April 26, 2009. Details- finishing the edge. For a sense of scale: ach of the individual squares are 1-5/8 x 2"; this method would only be appropriate for a small quilt, one that wasn't going to be handled very much. Back side below. About the quilting: Top one is hand-quilted, bottom is machine quilted with invisible thread on the front. I've decided instead to do hand-tying at the corners. Sunday, April 5, 2009. The Big Idea: June 2008
http://quiltthebigidea.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
A group blog for Design Camp quilters. Sunday, June 22, 2008. Here's my pastel project: each of these is a 9x12 piece of pastel paper, so the whole thing is 60x45". The idea is one I've been thinking of for a quilt for a while- midwestern landscape in late winter/early spring. Next I tried doing monotype prints. My intent was to get more "fabric" for stones, but the results were interesting enough to me in themselves that I haven't cut them up. These are each about 14x17". Thursday, June 19, 2008. Well, ...

The Big Idea: January 2009
http://quiltthebigidea.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
A group blog for Design Camp quilters. Friday, January 9, 2009. Overcoming reluctance/fear to work on "big idea" projects. 2) Using a white 5x8 card marked with daily blocks for a month, I wrote down for Tuesday two things I wanted to work on that morning. And then I did them! Writing down the intention. Limiting the number of projects to work on in any one chunk of time. Deciding on a daily basis, not trying to make a plan for a week or more. With this in place, here's what I've worked on this week:.

http://quiltthebigidea.blogspot.com/2010/02/retreat-2010.html
A group blog for Design Camp quilters. Sunday, February 28, 2010. I didn't think to take photos until Saturday night, so I missed the gorgeous blocks Amy was working on, but here are the rest of us who gathered at the Loretto Center recently. Here's Gini, with some of her great silks:. Janis did work on a quilt begun at another workshop. The center is going to be re-drafted:. Mary Beth is relaxing with a lot of "teeny 'tinis." Imagine stems for martini glasses below each row:. A great time was had by all!

The Big Idea: March 2009
http://quiltthebigidea.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
A group blog for Design Camp quilters. Thursday, March 26, 2009. Waves in the water. Dressing up my kitchen table. I have made cloth napkins for everyday meals for many years, but I've never used high-quality fabric for myself. On a recent trip to Pieceful Heart, armed with a generous gift certificate, I splurged on good fabric to replenish my currently tattered napkin supply. When I got home, I thought, "And those fat quarters I bought at the retreat from FunQuilts' ' Wild Bunch. Even though I love.

The Big Idea: Tree Crazy
http://quiltthebigidea.blogspot.com/2010/04/tree-crazy.html
A group blog for Design Camp quilters. Thursday, April 22, 2010. Notice the little house? The original tree block was too small to use so I created a little house with the "lumber" from the surrounding forest. Some of you may recognize this design as one of the projects I worked on at Campers Retreat in February. Most of the time the blocks were on the floor as they would not stick up nicely on the (un)sticky design wall. You may have stepped over them! I love the little house! April 22, 2010 at 2:55 PM.

The Big Idea: May 2008
http://quiltthebigidea.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
A group blog for Design Camp quilters. Saturday, May 31, 2008. I am finally finished with this quilt for my niece's baby (due 6/27). Some of you saw the original drawing at the retreat, some of the piecing at the international show when I was looking for a background fabric and some even when it was pieced but not quilted. I am happy with my decision to satin stitch very narrowly between the blocks, following the lines of the piecing. Not sure if you can make that out in the photo. Is "Lineage" to boring?
