The Strolling Bones : April 2015
http://thestrollingbones.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 22 April 2015. A Perfect Day, the "Dirty Wall" and a trip to Orford Island. Well, I say a perfect day. No high class Russian prostitutes were involved and I didn't score the cup final winner at Wembley against Man U, but a good day nevertheless. I've walked, run and cycled this route hundreds of times over many years and never get bored of it. It's bloody lovely. Massive tidal pull.look at the rod tips. We had the whole island to ourselves, not one other person fishing. What a remote, deso...

The Strolling Bones : July 2015
http://thestrollingbones.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 22 July 2015. Life On The Ocean Wave. A glorious day, put the Yak on the roof rack and off to the river I went. The tide was well out and I dragged it across the mud, jumped in and looked forward to catching a few bass. Some facts and figures for you. Date puchased - May 2013. Total number of launches - 3. Fish caught from the Yak - 0. So far, it works out to 200 quid a trip. On the other hand, if you leave the rods at home it's good fun. Monday, 20 July 2015. The Curse Is Broken. A very early...

The Strolling Bones : May 2014
http://thestrollingbones.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 7 May 2014. After the weather wrecked South Devon marathon, or rather the fact that we bailed out due to the crap weather, I somehow ended up entering the Madrid marathon. After a bit of negotiating, we agreed that we'd spend the first night in the other hotel and move back to our original choice if we wanted to, on the second night. As it was, we stayed put, as the hotel was perfect and right next to the Metro (and we couldn't be arsed). Was ringing in my ears all along the course. I finished...

Talking Essex: May 2013
http://talkingessex.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Local Legends and Good Ol'Boys. Thursday, 30 May 2013. John Sait - Angler, Ex Charter Skipper, Shooter. Many people who have been fishing the Essex coast for some time will be familiar with John Sait. He moved to Thorrington in 1962 and has fished, on and off, for over sixty years. He ran a very successful charter boat, "Boy Carl", from the early 70s until 1998 and during that time shared in some of the largest rod and line catches ever seen off the east coast. Have big catches of roach of between 1 and ...

Local Legends and Good Ol'Boys. Friday, 4 January 2013. Ian “Wattsy Dog” Watts – Wildfowler and Engineer. Ian "Wattsy Dog" Watts doesn't yet quite fall in to the "Local Legend" or "Rum old Boy" category, but I think it's fair to say he does qualify for the title "Very Interesting, Very Clever, Smart Arse". A back handed compliment? No, if your knew him, you'd agree. Welcome to the world of the Watts Dog. GL – So how did you first get interested in wildfowling? GL – How long did that go on? This Saxon Shore: March 2015
http://this-saxon-shore.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 22 March 2015. Proper Essex, This Is. Tucked away on the southern bank of the wide expanse of the Stour estuary, Wrabness is a place that you'll love if you like hiking, biking, fishing and stuff like messing about on the river. If you want "entertainment", you'll hate it, because "there's nuffink to do". I love it. Wood anemones in Wrabness wood in April. An amazing sight, made more so because it lasts only briefly. Brits on the beach. I love this photo. Juneit doesn't get better than that.
