Reception@Northleach: Hedgehog Howdedo!
http://receptionnorthleach.blogspot.com/2014/10/hedgehog-howdedo.html
Saturday, 4 October 2014. In Reception we've been enjoying stories by Lynley Dodd including Hedgehog Howdedo. We decided to make a huge hand-print hedgehog. When we then suggested making hedgehog bread the children didn't believe us! They giggled and thought we were teasing! We had a go nonetheless. We put strong white flour, yeast, salt and water in a bowl. After proving time we kneaded and shaped the dough into balls. We then used scissors to make the prickles and added raisins for eyes.

Reception@Northleach: April 2015
http://receptionnorthleach.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, 26 April 2015. Which is your favourite fruit? On Friday we had a visit from Akeyo. She's Handa's friend in the book Handa's Surprise. She brought the different fruits that are mentioned in the book. Akeyo's favourite fruit is tangerines and she wanted to know if the children in Reception thought the same. Reception were encouraged to try a piece of each fruit. Pineapple, mango, banana and tangerines were firm favourites. Avocado and papaya not so much! What is your favourite fruit?

http://receptionnorthleach.blogspot.com/2015/03/if-i-were-chef.html
Wednesday, 4 March 2015. If I were a chef. Reception have been busy thinking about chefs this week. We are writing menus, learning more about eating healthily and cooking up a storm in the class kitchen and restaurant role-play areas. We've also been visited by the French chef Claude who asked us what we would make if we were a chef. We made pictures of Claude and decorated our place mats with repeating shape patterns.
