The good news is Chuck gives us 2k words this week instead of his standard 1k. The bad news? There are over 400 opening sentences to choose from. The earl cracked a hal...

Writing and Art and Life. December 9, 2016. I absolutely love this story by the lovely and amazing Joyce. I am so so lucky to be able to call her my friend. Writing and Art and Life. December 16, 2016. The amazingly talented Meredith. Posted her story “Lavender” today! It is so poignant and beautiful and melancholic. Now go – run – over to the Muses site, here. And read. You won’t be sorry. I promise. How to Take Yourself Seriously and Why I Don’t Just Write. Muse in Pocke...

https://upsidedownartwriting.wordpress.com/2017/01/13/new-muses-story-2
Writing and Art and Life. January 13, 2017. The amazingly talented Joyce has struck again! Her new short story is gorgeous. Check it out here. Here’s the first bit:. There were a lot of things Death once believed to be true, one of which was that the dead should stay dead. It was pointless going against the natural order. Only humans, who thought themselves gods and sought to bring the dead back to life, could be foolish enough to disrupt this course. Now run, yes RUN, to the Muses site. View upside down...

You can check it out here. On the Muses blog. Because it was so hard, I thought I’d give a breakdown on how I wrote it. Or rather how I re-wrote it! This was the prompt:. What is a superhero? How are they separate from a villain. What makes them good and not bad? Is it just a matter of perspective? What do they want? This is supe...

The Bone Seeker – Muse in Pocket, Pen in Hand
https://museinpocketpeninhand.wordpress.com/2017/01/06/the-bone-seeker
Muse in Pocket, Pen in Hand. Chasing the muse one story at a time. January 6, 2017. January 6, 2017. Imogen Gray was a prophet, and her trade was in bones and secrets. Some said she was morbid, digging up bones like that, for profit of all things. They didn’t care about the truth that bones held, or the history that they revealed. They said that once bones were buried, they should stay buried. These were the kinds of people that would cause the end of the world. None of them could feel the ground moving.
