CityBirding: Canny Day

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2015/05/canny-day.html

Sunday, 17 May 2015. This mornings trip to Fontburn brought some good views of Pied and Spotted Flycatchers as well as Treecreeper and Redpoll. Then after a pit stop back home I was out again to see the Boldon Flats, Temmincks Stint. Back through the tunnel and up to East Chevington to watch a Spoonbill, then on way home there was Wood Sandpiper, Ruff, three Barn Owls, one Short eared Owl at Druridge Pools. CityBirding: November 2014

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 25 November 2014. Wheatears keep you fit. Thought this morning that I had better make the effort to visit Seaton Snook. I was familiar with the location of the car park at the north end of the bay so thought I'd use it and walk along the beach to the south end where the Isabelline Wheatear was reported. At the last minute I decided to walk down the track alongside the golf course to Zinc works. Faster I thought, wrong. Onto the beach and where is the throng? Yep, at the North end of the bay.

CityBirding: Prestwick Carr

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2015/04/prestwick-carr.html

Monday, 20 April 2015. While I stood quite still, like Ray Mears, this character came bounding up quite close, then spotted me, stopped, and didn't seem to be bothered one way or another before sloping off. Yip I seen 4 brown hares near marley mast in Saturday. Very nice. 21 April 2015 at 11:19. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). CityBirding: March 2015

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Friday, 20 March 2015. A walk along the river bank this morning produced some nice sightings of Kingfisher, Little Grebe, Dipper and two Grey Wagtail. Four Small Tortoiseshell were on the wing on the Spetchells. Wednesday, 18 March 2015. A walk onto Weetslade provided a cracking view of Yellowhammer. And looking fit to burst, heading toward a pond. Wednesday, 11 March 2015. Just a few splashes of colour today on a dull day. Tuesday, 10 March 2015. This Buzzard hovered over. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

CityBirding: August 2014

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 28 August 2014. At Big Waters outlet stream today, more dragons. Thought I would try to complete the task so rudely interrupted by the bees on the previous day, so I went back to Newburn and filled the box with blackberries. In one particularly small sheltered corner I was pleased to be able to watch six of these corkers hawking about. I was surprised to see how many coupled Common Darters were still in reproduction mode. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. Could have been worse. Monday, 18 August 2014.

CityBirding: July 2014

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, 31 July 2014. Seems a bit late. Since last autumn, the Goldfinch have been one of the most regular visitors to the back garden feeders. Over the last couple of weeks the visits have become less frequent so I thought they will be taking advantage of the thistle seed crop out in the hedgerows. So I was surprised to see this one making repeated trips, this morning, to gather some sheep's wool which I put out in the spring. Monday, 28 July 2014. Friday, 25 July 2014. CityBirding: Muggleswick

http://citybirding.blogspot.com/2015/04/muggleswick.html

Tuesday, 21 April 2015. A cracking morning for a mission to see Pied Flycatcher turned out well. As well as the target species I spotted, Green Woodpecker, Blackcap, Redstart, and Nuthatch in the woods. Travelling onward provided good views of a pair of Dipper, Sparrowhawk, Red Kite, Red Grouse, Golden Plover, Lapwing, Curlew, Wheatear. Cracking looking bird - used to see them in old woodlands in Devon. WBW opens on Wednesday morning (! My time and closes on Sunday at noon. Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne.
