Northwest History: Open Letter to the Historians of the 22nd Century: Sorry for All the Stuff

http://northwesthistory.blogspot.com/2013/06/open-letter-to-historians-of-22nd.html

Sunday, June 16, 2013. Open Letter to the Historians of the 22nd Century: Sorry for All the Stuff. So today I read one of the sillier posts I have ever seen on an academic blog. In which the author bemoans an imagined decline of diary-keeping in the present era. Future historians will have nothing to write about! The silliness, of course, stems from the fact that the author is using a blog on the internet. To complain that no one is writing about their lives anymore. Noviember 2, 1863: rained. Imagine if...

Northwest History: The Complete Idiot's Guide to Mapping the Kentuc Trail

http://northwesthistory.blogspot.com/2015/01/the-complete-idiots-guide-to-mapping.html

Monday, January 26, 2015. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Mapping the Kentuc Trail. Behold, the least significant digital history project known to man- a map of the Kentuc Trail that I made last night:. The Kentuc Trail was a route used by early white settlers here in eastern Washington to travel between a crossing of the Snake River and Plante's Ferry on the Spokane River. Mentions of the route pop up a lot in pioneer narratives, including this one by John Smith. Now, I am no Ron Hall. Find a historic map...

Northwest History: Happy 4th of July, 1910

http://northwesthistory.blogspot.com/2015/07/happy-4th-of-july-1910.html

Saturday, July 4, 2015. Happy 4th of July, 1910. On July 4, 1910 The citizens of Spokane enjoying a "sane" 4th of July due to new ban on "high and dangerous explosives." The entire police force was on the fireworks beat, the Spokane Press reported. But it was "in the form of the less dangerous explosives." Other than a ranch hand being killed by a train in Greenacres, "no serious accidents have been reported.". What did the holiday actually mean. To people back then? Classic Rail Trails - Mapping Historic Spokane

http://www.historicspokane.info/walks-rides/classic-rail-trails

Washington Trust for Historic Preservation. Spokane Valley Heritage Museum. A significant piece of the Spokane region's history is linked to railroads. One way to get a feel for this is using several of the rail trails that have been developed in the Spokane region. Some lie in urban areas along old electric street car lines that formed the back bone of the city of Spokane's development. Others traverse remote areas of the county on lines that connected the region with the "outside" world.

Uncle Leonard came all the way from Tennessee to visit us. The floating head is Danell. I felt bad that she wasn't in the picture, so I decided to add her somewhere. Her head makes an excellent font.
