Musings on Life, Planning and Politics in Norwich, VT. Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Woodlot In A Teapot (Norwich ListServ). For those who haven't read it, this is the first paragraph of the Town Manager's Selectboard Packet for this Wednesday's SB Meeting. Here are the facts as set out in various memos authored by the Town Manager in the past eight weeks:. Here's where the facts get a little harder to follow. In response, Linda Cook wrote an email to her fellow Selectboard members stating, in part, " I un...

Musings on Life, Planning and Politics in Norwich, VT. Wednesday, February 22, 2012. Staying In The Game (Norwich ListServ). Before any of us ever heard of Monica Lewinsky, we had our fill of Bill Clinton's request we help him build the "on-ramp to the information superhighway." Well maybe it was Monica - or congressmen throwing stones over fornication - but that on-ramp still hasn't reached many corners of Vermont, including some corners here in Norwich. Who then couldn't live without this listserv?

Musings on Life, Planning and Politics in Norwich, VT. Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Inappropriate Actions (Norwich ListServ). One raised eyebrow for Linda Cook for putting Chief Robinson in an unfair position by asking him whether he had been pressured by the Town Manager to sign the "Open Letter" advocating for the ABC Dairy site. Another raised eyebrow for our Town Manager in managing the entire woodlot question as he did. Thoughtful adults without an axe to grind might simply call the Town Service Offi...

The Norwich Navel: July 2012

Musings on Life, Planning and Politics in Norwich, VT. Wednesday, July 11, 2012. As I wrote to our Zoning Administrator after the May 18th balloon test, it's impossible to effectively evaluate the visual impact of the proposed tower using a balloon test while all the hardwoods are fully leafed out. While the Town Manager's fast track push for a bond vote in August doesn't leave time for a proper test, I hope the DRB will take the time to do this properly come autumn. Musings on Life, Planning and Politics in Norwich, VT. Tuesday, September 25, 2012. Letter to Valley News 9-25-12). Your Sunday editorial " Due Diligence - Norwich and the Cell Tower. Oversimplifies what "irks" some residents about the "Fulton Tower" controversy in Norwich. If you ask me, it's a fairly straightforward - cautionary - tale of initial, understandable, oversights compounded by obstinance and a lack of public due diligence. A decision by the Selectboard or Planning Commission to certify Fulto...
