Feathering My Empty Nest. August 5, 2015. July 27, 2016. I don’t live here nor have I ever lived in these parts. Yet, somehow, as my family makes our annual pilgrimage back to this small corner of south Georgia, my heart feels like I’m coming home. Perhaps its the 50 plus years of returning to the same place, the same time. Street clock in downtown Thomasville, GA. Hay pigs on the road from Cairo to Pelham. This is the house where my mom was born. It is the place of my heritage. My mother was born here.

Sunday, March 8, 2015. Last night we celebrated the Holi festival of colors. By playing Holi. Last year I was in Bundi, India celebrating. And this year the girls and I joined our dear friend Swapna and her son Nirdesh at a Hindu temple near us to celebrate. It was reminiscent of India not only because of the loud music and colored powder flying everywhere but also because there were so many people! The girls got their first taste of real.
