St. Patrick

St Patrick's Day myths. A brief account of the life of St. Patrick. If you wish to find out more follow the links.). St Patrick was born around 387 near a village called Bannavem Taburniae in Roman Britain where his father, a nobleman, had an estate. Scholars are divided over its location, some saying it was in Scotland, others arguing it was in Wales. How he was one of thousands carried off as slaves. Or was Victor simply a symbolic Irishman? So many questions about the life of Patrick remain unanswered.

First of all it may surprise you to know that St. Patrick's Day was not traditionally celebrated in Ireland in the same way it is in America and we most definitely did not drink green beer. The Irish shamrock is a small leafed plant with THREE. All crispy and fri...

Not Cordelia's Mom | Hate that Hag!
Not Cordelia's Mom. NOT a 4-WAY POST (Yet). July 5, 2015. Just WTF is going on here? When I heard CookieCakes was planning to do major household renovations. I decided to make myself scarce. Who needs all that dust and noise? There are plenty of places in the world one can find a peaceful environment if one has the money. Which, of course, I do (and CookieCakes doesn’t, which is why she’s stuck in an 8×10 foot room with the dog and non-cable [. Are you people nuts? Dogs, cats, teddy bears, vampire bears?

Ornitholosism
Thursday, 21 November 2013. Back on Scilly - October 2013. The crossing was uneventful and the only highlight was a Short-eared Owl that flew low over the boat as we entered the roads, disappearing into the Pelistry area on St Mary's. Once the bags were dumped at the digs it was straight up to Longstones for a Scilly Tick in the form of a SUBALPINE WARBLER. The bird showed well on and off but spent long periods of time amongst the weeds on the deck. I did see a very showy PALLAS' WARBLER. At Covean put i...
