Notes from the basement

Notes from the basement. Monday, January 4, 2010. It's not like I hung out with the guy. Bob was usually found sitting on a milk crate by the loading dock rolling tobacco into paper. Even the mornings I came in at six, he'd be planted there puffing away, raising his hand as I walked past. Conversation was limited to his chuckling when Gil insulted my cooking, or talking about the Jazz with Thomas Jackson while he sorted the dishes and put them back on the shelves. That was the end of Robert Burdick.

Notes from the basement: November 2009

http://www.notesfrombasement.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Notes from the basement. Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Sick and tired of having to be handicapped/disabled to enjoy the ease and convenience of a wheelchair? Do you have two good legs but don't want to deal with the hassle of walking? Segway Riders: You look ridiculous. You have too much money. You are a lazy asshole. A peppermint candy from the hostess podium, or with your check, can be very refreshing after a meal. The same is not true of cinnamon-flavored candy. Some dick-weed suit at the candy factory ...

Notes from the basement: October 2009

http://www.notesfrombasement.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Notes from the basement. Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Some argue that being able to urinate standing up is one of the major perks associated with being male. I have to agree as it has served me well in many situations like: camping, ball games, road trips, freezing toilet seats, etc. On occasion however, there are very uncomfortable situations that arise when one opts to pee in the upright position. If I do take the open urinal, is it wrong to ignore a co-worker or acquaintance? Tuesday, October 20, 2009.

it's miller time.: 2013.

http://jessandkelly.blogspot.com/2012/12/2013.html

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. Dec 31, 2012. I wrote this in my blog for new year's resolution for 2012:. But, now, it is nearly 2012, and we are armed with all the right things. I feel good about my employment. I feel good about continuing school. Kelly is licensed and searching for jobs. He is also finishing up school, and earning his bachelor's. Did we do these things? Well, yes and no. We paid off our credit card/loans. (Hurray! I think I may hold ...

it's miller time.: So much sleeping

http://jessandkelly.blogspot.com/2012/04/so-much-sleeping.html

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. Apr 20, 2012. Pretty sure Luigi hates us. Kelly and I are working literally opposite hours this last week. Without getting into too much specifics, because I don't need any Internet creeps on my doorstep when my husband is not home, but Kelly works nights and I've been working EARLY mornings, so I've been leaving for work before he even gets off work. Not this week, Luigi. I am 24-year-old journalist, who rarely writes ab...

it's miller time.: so much running

http://jessandkelly.blogspot.com/2012/05/so-much-running.html

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. May 8, 2012. Kelly is training for a marathon. This commences in two weeks, so he is in the final stretch of his training. I am pretty excited for this, mostly because running ungodly amounts makes one sore and cranky, and I've had enough of sore and cranky post-run Kelly for the last while. Last weekend, the man ran 20 miles. 20 effin miles. That's amazing to me. That's basically how I felt past mile 6. Now I know, thoug...

http://jessandkelly.blogspot.com/2012/06/togetherness.html

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. Jun 9, 2012. My favorite part about Kelly's employment? Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Togetherness makes the heart grow slightly annoyed. Here is the typical thought process of me on a normal two to three day stretch of Kelly working nights:. Day one: Hell yes. I have this whole house to myself. I'm gonna eat crappy food, watch crappier television, and drink some wine! I am 24-year-old journalist, who rarely writes...

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. Apr 6, 2012. Wherein our lives change dramatically in a week's time. So, in the course of a week, our lives have changed so much - for the absolute better! And I waited patiently, hearing nothing until last Thursday. He does great at the interview, all is well in the world. To make things even better, I receive the sudden news that I got the reporter job (! And I start on Monday. Whoa. First and foremost, I am so so very ...

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. Nov 5, 2012. No one has ever died from eating frozen foods. I went to the Journalism and Women Symposium last weekend, and a lot of talk there seemed to be centered around whether women can really 'have it all' - the career, the kids, the house, etc. One woman's advice on how to balance? No one has ever died from eating frozen foods.". 1 I still am employed as a journalist! 2 Kelly is still a nurse! I have submitted my th...

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. Jessica - twentysomething, like to cook, craft, and camp. Also a fan of fishing, biking, and trying new restaurants. Professionally, working as a journalist, but for some stupid reason, decided to go back to school to earn a master's degree in communication. Mom and Dad (pretty obvious). Shalee - younger sister, has 4-year-old child named Christian. View my complete profile. It was just like that. My Next 30 Days.

http://jessandkelly.blogspot.com/2012/03/missing-out.html

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. Mar 23, 2012. The grass is not always greener on the other side. That's for sure. But I don't have kids, so I can't really factor them into my life equation of daydreaming quite yet. Be in the future. I have opportunities through job experience and working that others do not. But, sometimes I don't want job opportunities. All I want to do is sew an effin quilt. March 23, 2012 at 10:49 AM. Im not sure if you remember me, b...

it's miller time.: About

http://jessandkelly.blogspot.com/p/about-me.html

Ramblings of Jessica Miller, twentysomething journalist living in the land of Utah. If there is one thing to know about me, it's that I love writing. I write for a living, but I also like having this blog to document random things in my life. I generally like to write about anything, but much of my writing focuses on the transition from single college kid to married career-working adult. It's been quite the ride thus far! View my complete profile. It was just like that. My Next 30 Days. Farewell to a blog.

Nothing has changed in this country yet, but, alhamdullilah, at least an internationally recognized commission has provided some validity to their struggle and to the atrocities that have occurred here. Everyone is hopeful that it will make a difference, but all the cards are still held by one very powerful family. We can only hope they will do the right thing at this crossroads. May 17, 2011.

Notes From Bedlam

Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Caring about someone almost as much as you care about yourself is not enough. The problem with modern life is we tend to confuse the two. Here's a few tips for helping figure it out:. 1 If you think he should always forgive you for saying hurtful things when you are angry at him. Because, after all, it's pretty hard to control yourself when you're mad and people say stupid stuff when they are mad all the time. We have these modern examples of romantic movies with absolutely hor...

Drones in the Shower, F-16s on the Street: On Leaving Gaza. December 20, 2011. Gaza is not a pleasant place to be. The Israeli occupation smothers and suffocates, it makes one highly attuned to one’s surroundings in unnatural ways, or ways that were once natural but should no longer be. Among the 250 participants that shaved their heads, this brave little girl goes all out for an event at the Fox Theatre, that raised over $l00,000 dollars for peditriac cancer. Reed, one of Rising Tide's resident tattoo artists, goes purple before shaving his cool "do" for the annual St.Baldrick's fundraiser. A very popular cut amongst the boys in Boulder. Definately a mid shaggy feel. Mountain Sun "chops" contest. Pink chops gave Tim the edge he needed to win the contest! Get inspired this holiday season.
