Notes from the Belfry: Gutenberg & Co.

http://notesfromthebelfry.blogspot.com/2007/10/gutenburg-co.html

Tuesday, October 2, 2007. While browsing, and quite by accident, I found a title I remember seeing in hardcover as a child visiting much older relatives who kept everything in print they'd ever acquired. Maida's Little Shop, a children's book about a frail little girl who regains her health by running her own store, was published around 1906. Who would have guessed it would be scanned and made available a century later on the Project Gutenberg site? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Whats Up, Doc?

Notes from the Belfry: September 2007

http://notesfromthebelfry.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 27, 2007. Wikis seem to be able to stretch and expand to accommodate all kinds of information, opinions, and potential uses. Wednesday, September 26, 2007. 20 and Counting Icebergs. Mr Anderson's point that libraries no longer have a monopoly on information leads me to ponder how our youngest computer users can be taught ways to evaluate what they see and use online. I did find some surprises when comparing top favorited blogs to top blogs to top searches. The top ten faves were l...

Notes from the Belfry: October 2007

http://notesfromthebelfry.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Friday, October 5, 2007. These may not be the final notes from the belfry, since I would like to complete Thing 24 when I have a sufficient block of time away from work. For now, my goal is to let the many Things I explored in Learning 2.0 sink in, revisit those I found most useful or fun or applicable to my job, and keep my mind open to new technologies as they appear on the horizon. Though libraries aren't in the business of selling cars, they could improve their websites by incorporating more color an...

Notes from the Belfry: What's Up, Doc?

http://notesfromthebelfry.blogspot.com/2007/10/whats-up-doc.html

Tuesday, October 2, 2007. What's Up, Doc? GoogleDocs could be quite a useful tool. Already the editing possibilities have me thinking about ways musical and other organizations I belong to might work collectively on contact lists, performance schedules, and other business that usually gets dumped onto one or two hardworking members who maintain documents and spreadsheets on the group's behalf. Less individual e-mail contact, fewer revisions- sounds good for all concerned. Notes from the Belfry.

Notes from the Battalion

Notes from the Battalion. Sunday, March 8, 2015. Like the Mormon Battalion, we followed the prophet and enlisted for 12 months. Like the Mormon Battalion, our 12 month mission has brought many blessings. We are grateful we had this opportunity to serve. Monday we had our last shift at the beautiful San Diego temple grounds. Tuesday we went through a session at the temple and then had our last shift at the Battalion. As we said goodbye to the Sisters that night, it was teary for me. This is the first time...

Notes from the beautiful city – Photographs by Greg Thompson

Notes from the beautiful city. Photographs by Greg Thompson. Notes from the beautiful city. December 24, 2017. April 1, 2018. The coffee is good, getting me to just the right pitch, and here I am. Wanting to put a few things down, mostly notes to myself, to see where it goes. I don’t have a better reason or explanation than that. This is one of my favorite images. My son is grown now. I love him dearly (as I do my two older children! And I say all this with good humor… I am not depressed! I had my moment...

See, that’s what the app is perfect for. Wahhhh, I don’t wanna. My mind and everything that goes through it. Dec 3rd, 2017. Here’s some poetry i wrote today that’s gonna be on a music project im working on. She’s not coming home. I know what you did and you show no remorse,. You’re a killer of dreams, hopes, ambition, you’re a relentless force,. Your desire to change is outweighted by your disgust in me,. You can hide behind a wall or a computer screen but that doesn’t change how i feel,. These people do...

Notes From the Bedside Table

Saturday, May 14, 2016. Bored Bored bored bored. Bored. Sunrise today was at 5:32 am, sunrise will be at 8:40 pm! Last Monday night, when I got home from bookgroup at about 9:45, the sky was still ruddy over the Olympic mountains to the west. Long twilights are a true joy. View from the window where my computer is living this week. And with a house full of unread books, and uncleared shelves and closets, I shouldn't be bored. But I am. So, I guess I am going to drag that stack of b. Scholastic) which I h...

Notes from the Bin | Trying to make sense of it all, one post at a time

Notes from the Bin. Trying to make sense of it all, one post at a time. A tribute to an honourable man. May 1, 2014. I will admit to being in a rather glum mood today. I am grieving the loss of my father in law. He passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning from an apparent stroke. My father in law was a man of incredible integrity. He strove to live out his values and principles every day. He was committed to his family, his community and his faith. My father in law was faith in action. He was a man of s...
