Written 19 May 2015). Yesterday the calendar marked a momentous day for me: one month until departure from Ukarumpa. One month until I’d leave the place where I’ve raised three sons and found true joy in vocation and ministry. It’s a “dialectical construct,” to use academic language. In class we’ve rea...

This is my Life: Back To School 2015

http://christytaylor.blogspot.com/2015/07/back-to-school-2015.html

This is my Life. Or: Snapshots of my life as mom, wife and missionary. Thursday, July 23, 2015. Back To School 2015. Yesterday was a glorious day! The first day of the 2015-16 school year! And this is the first school year ever (in the history of our family) that all of my children will be in school. While Elijah is at his preschool class, I will have two entirely kid-free mornings a week! Whatever will I do with myself? All ready for the 1st day of school! A partial view of the Secondary Campus. Sort of...

http://christytaylor.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

This is my Life. Or: Snapshots of my life as mom, wife and missionary. Friday, February 14, 2014. I hate being startled awake by a nightmare. You know, the kind where you wake up, heart pounding, palms sweaty? This morning I was shocked awake by my first 'furlough nightmare' (hopefully not the first of many! You may laugh, but in many ways, furlough (coming home for a time after being away for years) can be really stressful! And, having been away for four years, I have no idea of what's in style these da...

This is my Life. Or: Snapshots of my life as mom, wife and missionary. Thursday, November 28, 2013. Be Joyful Always. Give Thanks in All Circumstances.". This verse in 1 Thessalonians is my mantra for today. I think I've already repeated it to myself a dozen times this morning so far, and I've barely got the kids out the door for school today. But honestly, I'm having to repeat it over and over to myself because I'm having a really hard time following it today. But this year, after hosting Thanksgiving g...

This is my Life. Or: Snapshots of my life as mom, wife and missionary. Thursday, October 24, 2013. Two years ago, (after the most painful labor I’ve experienced out of all my childbirth experiences) I got to hold this tiny, perfect new little boy. I kid you not… some of the first words out of my mouth were, “I’ve seen this baby before! 8221; It’s true! Elijah definitely is a Taylor, and looks just like his older brothers (especially Nathan). Birthday, when we are in America (last October we were in the v...

We took the train from near our hotel into downtown and walked around a bit. We walked through the huge cathedral and (very quickly, as we were going at the pace of the kids' interest level) gazed at its beauty. A neat drinking fountain. http://christytaylor.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

This is my Life. Or: Snapshots of my life as mom, wife and missionary. Friday, December 27, 2013. There is just something fun and special about traditions. Things our family does the same every year to celebrate Christmas. Some of our traditions include putting the kids to bed on Christmas eve and then setting up the packages under the tree and filling the stockings and getting everything ready for when the kids walk through the door into the front room on Christms morning. Once the presents are opened a...

In fact, it's hard to believe it's already a week since some of these pictures were taken. Life is just flying by. There's a ton going on. But it's easier to show than tell, so here are a ton of pictures of our past week. A special and rare treat of Cotton Candy! Here she is with some of her friends. This is my Life. Or: Snapshots of my life as mom, wife and missionary. Monday, October 20, 2014. It's been ages since my last post. Most days are filled with the mundane: School. Chores. Daily life with 5 kids. We ended the afternoon with roasting hotdogs and marshmallows over the fire. It was a great day playing with cousins! Fun times with cousins! Playing on the cliffs. This is my Life. Or: Snapshots of my life as mom, wife and missionary. Sunday, January 19, 2014. Living in the 'Here and Now'. I've got a bad case of "Furlough Fever", as a good friend of mine so aptly calls it. Even though we don't even begin our furlough for a little over 5 months, it's all I can think about. When I think about our upcoming furlough, I am a mix of both absolutely exhilarated, and totally stressed out! Aunts, uncles and cousins. I'm looking forward to having the option to go places!

Notes From the Corner

Notes From the Corner. Saturday, March 12, 2011. It’s been a while since I’ve allowed myself to think. “ Allowed? 8221; Yes, allowed. “ But isn’t thinking involuntary? 8221; After a near crippling shock to the body, the survival mechanism kicks in. You breathe. Short, rapid and involuntary at first, then gradually slower, deeper and more deliberate. Sadly that’s where the similarity between thinking and breathing ends. 8221; Because the mind is notorious for the deathly calm after. And then you let.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Fear or Self Divinity, Our Choice. FEAR OR SELF DIVINITY, OUR CHOICE. I haven't written anything "creative" for a very long time. Between, working and trying to refocus with the opening of the Phoenix Gate and a multitude of other reasons that can be summed up as "life", it has been a struggle to really find anything to say. After all, I tell myself, these are only opinions and is there truly an original opinion anywhere on this planet? Any really new ideas? This man made fear...

Notes From the Cottonwood Tree

Because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring? Sunday, March 27, 2016. Restoration of all things. I've been training for a half marathon, outside, since January. It has been inspiring to note the slow transition of winter back to spring as the temperatures creep up and the earth begins to unveil more and more of her rich colors. And then on top of it all, I could momentarily smell the spring air for the first time in 10 years. It was magnificent. Each distinct smell was like...

For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone. We leave you a tradition with a future. The tender loving care of human beings will never become obsolete. People even more than things have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed and redeemed and redeemed.

Off The Mic

A collection of thoughts, essays, opinion and nonsense from a former morning show host with way too much time on his hands. Monday, January 19, 2015. Common Sense, and Other Classic Tales of Monotony. Much has been made of the new study that says 1% of the world will soon control 50% of the wealth. This seems outrageous until you realize how unsurprising it is. People don't do a lot of things well, but pissing away money sure is one of them. No more fun. It wasn't that hard to do. Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
