The not hot project. The English language lacks words to precisely describe "hot" flavors. Our language is broken if jalapeno peppers, spicy mustard and cinnamon candies are all just "hot". So how do we fix it? We borrowed "umami" from the Japanese to describe savory-meaty-tastiness. Let's do the same for the great variety of hot flavors. There must be a polish word for mustardy-nasal-hot, right? Or a Mandarin word for firey-gingeryness? This is a project to find those words. What’s not hot?
