Er konnte an rennfreien Tagen und in den Abendstunden stets auch von Privatpersonen, Organisationen oder Autoherstellern befahren werden. So entstand ein Mythos, der bereits in den Worten des ersten Gewinners am Ring durchklingt. Rudolf Caracciola, siegte als erster Fahrer bei einem Automobil-Rennen.
