Maid in Australia: Nuts about Kingaroy
http://www.maidinaustralia.com/2015/06/we-will-be-royals.html
Saturday, June 27, 2015. It's been a weird week in the town where I live. For those who aren't playing at home, I live in a country town called Kingaroy, in the South Burnett. We moved here originally as a bit of a tree change. Life is generally cheaper, quieter and slower paced than in the city, and it's easy to fall in love with the rolling farmland, quaint towns and constantly-changing scenery and seasons. It's heartbreaking to see people losing their jobs and homes. Having to move away from the a...

Thursday, April 17, 2014. Little tigers take flight . Usually, the VIP types are the first passengers to board a plane. The first and business class passengers, anyone remotely rich, famous, or influential. But the other night, Chase and Harmonie were taken to the front of the check-in queue like rock stars, with me close behind. And when it came to boarding, Chase was the first person to step onto Tigerair Australia's. First flight from Brisbane to Darwin. Tiger Air prides itself on opening up Australia...

Maid in Australia: July 2015

Saturday, July 11, 2015. Snakes, rats, and crocs - oh my! My kids have been visiting, so I haven't been online much. I'll probably post about what we've been up to later, as we've really been 'in the moment', just enjoying the time together. While they've been home, we've been reliving old times, including looking at photos and remembering happy times and funny moments. On that occasion, I was invited by Tigerair Australia. I posted about the flight here. And a little more here. As guests of Tigerair on ...

Maid in Australia: Mental Health Kindness Giveaways!
http://www.maidinaustralia.com/2011/10/mental-health-kindness-giveaways.html
Friday, October 14, 2011. Mental Health Kindness Giveaways! It's Mental Health Month. In Australia, and I've tried many times to write my post in support of the cause. I've written openly about my own on-again-off-again relationship with anxiety and depression, and the nasty major depressive disorder. That saw me hospitalised in one of our finest mental health institutions. I helped organise RUOK? And it all kind of drained me. So I'm not writing about mental health. And I won't stop until the. Baker's D...

Maid in Australia: Ms Cordiality!
http://www.maidinaustralia.com/2012/01/ms-cordiality.html
Sunday, January 15, 2012. From the Long, Long Ago Memories of Summers Past comes the times when Mum would keep jugs of Cottee's cordial. Made up in the fridge. These were usually only allowed on Special Occasions. Sunday lunches after church, when we were having guests, celebrating a birthday, and/or, God forbid (pun intended), having the minister and his wife over for a meal. But I do believe there are times, particularly on blisteringly hot Queensland days, when kids need a treat, don't you? Available ...

Maid in Australia: Easter - better late than never
http://www.maidinaustralia.com/2014/04/easter-better-late-than-never.html
Saturday, April 26, 2014. Easter - better late than never. Our Easter was a little strange this year. Instead of being woken in the wee hours by excited children hunting eggs, I was actually wide awake at Darwin Airport in time to board our Tigerair. Flight back to Brisbane. It was surreal to spend the early hours of Easter Sunday in the air, trying to catch some sleep ahead of our drive back to Kingaroy. Luckily, the plane wasn't full so we were able to spread out. Lindor chocolate balls instead. The pa...

Maid in Australia: Mens Rings Online - Product Review
http://www.maidinaustralia.com/2015/08/mens-rings-online-product-review.html
Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Mens Rings Online - Product Review. Now that my kids live away from me, I've wanted them to have something special to remember me by when I'm not with them. Now they are teenagers, a gift of jewellery isn't just about remembering me when we're not together. My family has a tradition where they have given jewellery to my siblings and I when they felt we were ready. That has been a tradition I wanted to carry on with my own children. So I was thrilled when I was given the chance to...
