http://www.soyouthinkyoucaninvest.com/2010/05/how-media-lies.html
Sunday, May 23, 2010. How the Media Lies. The following is a great example of one way in which the media lies. No, this is not directly related to finance, investing or economics but it is important to recognize these practices whether one is looking to research a stock or understand global politics. Here is one example that I stumbled across on Saturday afternoon. The headline from The Drudge Report. A so called conservative. News source, reads NKOREAN LEADER AUTHORIZED ATTACK ON SOUTH:. A new American ...

Friday, March 27, 2009. A Basic Example of JQuery's UI.Dialog Dynamically Loading an URL with an IFRAME. Given the momentum that JQuery has had lately with .Net, I wanted to try out loading a form into a "lightbox" as an alternative to writing a webpart for SharePoint. So a first step is just to get the "lightbox" approach working. I used the JQuery UI Build Your Download. DOCTYPE html html head. Link type=text/css href=././themes/base/ui.all.css rel=stylesheet /. Friday, September 12, 2014. Git ignore pattern in a file not working? Watch out for spaces on the line! I couldn't figure out why a git ignore pattern applied via:. Git config - global core.excludesfile. Wasn't working. Turns out there were spaces at the end of the pattern line that were preventing it from working. According to the docs, spaces at the end of lines aren't supposed to matter:. Trailing spaces are ignored unless they are quoted with backlash (" "). Ref: http:/ git-scm.com/docs/gitignore.

Friday, April 17, 2009. SharePoint Feature Scope Changes Ignored. I ran into a situation where I had deployed a broadly scoped feature and then narrowed the feature scope down, but the feature was acting like it still had the original scope settings. The feature was a delegate control to deploy JQuery using the AdditionalPageHead delegate control, just like Jan Tielens described here. When I had the feature scoped to the site collection (. I'll also mention that I tried developing this with VSeWSS 1....

developer bits: Gnome Desktop Blank Screen (spinner never goes away)
http://clarkupdike.blogspot.com/2014/10/gnome-desktop-blank-screen-spinner.html
Wednesday, October 8, 2014. Gnome Desktop Blank Screen (spinner never goes away). The root cause of this issue was that GDM AutomaticLogin was enabled in /etc/gdm/custom.conf but the login account had an expired password. The problem went away when this was resolved. Using the Cloudera CDH Quickstart VM. The fix was to kill the gnome gdm-simple-slave process, which then automatically restarts. This would cause the console to flash and then the desktop would come up. This command will do it:. The Helicopt...

Investing For a Living. Friday, December 04, 2009. The Market is Set for Weakness to Follow Through. Yesterday we advised that failed new highs in the indices could lead to some selling pressure and we saw that into the close today. Whether this selling was protective in nature in front of tomorrow’s employment report or the response to other stimulus doesn’t matter. Clearly the market is braced for bad news. A betting man would lay odds it has such a rendezvous in its future. Links to our companion sites.

Investing For a Living. Monday, August 31, 2009. Déjà Vu All Over Again. Two Mondays ago the Shanghai Composite had a dreadful day. The index, which had pulled back to its 50 MA in what appeared to be a garden variety correction, broke through this key support level. Because it had led the global equity rebound it triggered worldwide selling. Bourses all over the globe gapped lower and registered ugly losses. While we predictably saw gap down selling in the States today a decoupling from the Shanghai mar...
