For the love of that team. Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Awhile back I sent Matt over at Metsblog an email asking for his thoughts on the whole "Coach Keith" thing - if he knew whether or not Keith had ever been offered a position with the team, why, why not, etc. Matt has actually spoken to people slightly more in the know than your average fan, so if you're interested in the topic, check out his reply. Also, take the time to read the comments - they're priceless. Posted by curlygc at 10:05 AM. Impressed wi...

For the love of that team. Sunday, March 12, 2006. Ok, I Was Wrong. I have to admit that I was wrong. Before I get to the business of discussing our wonderful Met prospects (Anderson Hernandez, welcome to 2B! I need to backpedal off my cranky rants re: the WBC. I said I wouldn't watch, but I did. And you know what? I'm proud to see so many NY Mets on the various WBC rosters. So, we're getting shellacked in all our preseason games, who cares? Posted by curlygc at 8:44 PM. Oh, the humanity. This is a Flick...

For the love of that team. Monday, November 28, 2005. Take My Third Base Coach. Please! Dear Mr. Colletti:. I hear you are interested in speaking with Mr. Acta regarding the managerial vacancy in your organization. May I say, well done sir! Mr Acta would be yet another stellar choice in a long line of A1 choices made by your organization over the years. Trading Pedro Martinez to the Mets by way of Montreal and Boston was a helluva move. Then when you traded Mike Piazza to us - boy, that was great! Omar i...

For the love of that team. Tuesday, January 24, 2006. WBC: I'm just not feelin' it (and other stuff). It's going to be February soon. My least favorite month of the year. It's damned cold in Ohio, and there's nothing on TV sportswise. At least, no football or baseball. No basketball worth watching until March. And hockey? Who gives a crap. So you'd think in the midst of the sports dead zone that is winter I'd be excited about the World Baseball Classic, but I'm not. Oh, will the Braves fans be laughing.

For the love of that team. Monday, December 05, 2005. Is This What It's Like To Be A Yankee Fan? Minus 24 World Championships? All this hope. There's so much of it, I'm just not sure what to do with myself. I have to stop myself from running up to total strangers on the street and just grabbing their lapels and screaming "MEEEEEEEETS! This happy happy hopefullness. It's just weird. Watching your team throw bundles of cash at top players, and having them. Not turn it down. The other New York team? Two Non...

For the love of that team. Thursday, September 08, 2005. For quite some time, I've refrained from posting. At first, it was because I had a new job and pretty much no time during the day to keep up with posting on a regular basis. Then the Mets started winning. A lot. Wright was crazy hot. We were just a half game out of the wild card. We had a shot. Even the baseball guys on ESPN took notice. Willie, I'm afraid I've lost patience. Right now, Kris Benson is taking the mound against Chris Carpenter...

For the love of that team. Tuesday, May 31, 2005. Don't Wake Me Up Just Yet. Because I am going to have the most wonderful Mets dream right now. No, I'm not going to dream about Zambrano pitching no-hitters and Minky going on an A-Rod-like home run tear. I'm going to be slightly (but only slightly) more realistic than that. My outfield would be Floyd-Beltran-Diaz (Woodward); infield would be Wright, Reyes, Matsui (yeah, I'm still hanging on to hope there - but we do still have Keppinger just in case), an...

For the love of that team. Wednesday, August 03, 2005. Well, I just started a new job last week, so I've been pretty well inundated with stuff that has nothing to do with baseball. I'm also going on vacation next week to sunny Cape May NJ. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be settled in to the new job and ready to post on a regular basis again. Until then, some warm fuzzies.
