http://obriensfamilyfarm.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Looking forward and giving back with everyday life on the farm. Saturday, January 24, 2015. January in the Sunshine. The laying hens are in the garden at this time of year. They keep it clean, eat the left over grubs, and fertilize daily! As we clean the stalls out in the barn and deliver it by wheelbarrow full, the hens work it out and spread it around. Here is Big Boy! Our tom turkey is about 35 pounds and roams the pasture with the chickens and sheep. Pigs and their farm friend, Dutchess! But we knew ...

http://obriensfamilyfarm.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Looking forward and giving back with everyday life on the farm. Wednesday, December 31, 2014. We had a beautiful Thanksgiving spent with family in Tumwater, Washington. We packed up a little of our homegrown food and headed North to be with our parents. It was a beautiful visit and a time of togetherness that we treasure. We had a care package waiting for us in our room, complete with a five pointed star and a delicious cookbook from another Family Farm in Missouri! It felt so good to be with Mom. Back t...

http://obriensfamilyfarm.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Looking forward and giving back with everyday life on the farm. Thursday, December 26, 2013. Part of our gifting this year included handmade gifts. There are 7 special young ones living near us who needed a warm snuggle all year long! Each one was given the warmest hug we could think of in their favorite colors, or team, or treats! Each blanket was cut and trimmed and tied by the pair of us! These make for especially sweet dreams! And finally the warmest hug of them all! Posted by Tim and Kari O'Brien.

Looking forward and giving back with everyday life on the farm. Monday, February 24, 2014. February weather is always unpredictable, but this year, it is beautifully unpredictable. Today it was 68 degrees and the sun was shining just warm enough to coax these pretty little daffodils into a full bloom. The hens were so happy with the warmth and the flowers they decided to lay four eggs today. Enjoy the end of winter as it disappears into spring! Posted by Tim and Kari O'Brien. http://obriensfamilyfarm.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Looking forward and giving back with everyday life on the farm. Monday, November 11, 2013. There is a lot of behind the scene prep that goes into a turkey harvest! First things first: Raise some great birds! We raised ours on pasture grass with plenty of protection from wild predators. They were fed organic high protein turkey rations and organic cracked corn, garden vegies, plenty of greens, melons their favorite was cantaloupe, apples, and fresh water daily. Turkeys have a voracious appetite! The glove...

Looking forward and giving back with everyday life on the farm. Sunday, August 17, 2014. Amish Cantaloupe from Seed Saver's Exchange turned out to be the best tasting surprise in the garden! This cantaloupe is what we remember the orange-fleshed melons tasting like when we were kids. This jar is holding about 8 cantaloupe! That's hard to believe, but true! Next we will try frozen cubes of cantaloupe for smoothies! Posted by Tim and Kari O'Brien. Friday, August 15, 2014. Every Color of the Rainbow. Throwb...

O'Brien's Family Farm: March 2014
http://obriensfamilyfarm.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Looking forward and giving back with everyday life on the farm. Monday, March 24, 2014. How to roast a leg of lamb.Start with farm fresh, pasture raised lamb in your area. You are in for a real treat! Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. This is about a 7 pound leg of lamb, defrosted and pulled from the refrigerator about an hour before putting into the oven. This allows meat fibers to relax, which makes the meat even more tender! Rinse with cool water, pat dry and place into an oven proof pan fatty side up.
