Observations on a life. Just another random blog site. Newer posts →. Put a sock in it. October 21, 2013. I’ve never made socks before. It’s getting colder and I’ve lost my slippers, so I’ve decided to make these. One down, one to go…. Play it again, Sam. October 4, 2012. Out of interest, Mr G and I last night went to Islington’s Pleasance Theatre for a showing of. Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut. We weren’t really sure what to expect, but it looked interesting – and it’s fairly local. The Gin Joint Cut.

Observations on a life. Just another random blog site. Lest we forget →. November 7, 2013. Without being a total techy, I love computers and the internet. Don’t ask me how it works – it’s as magical as electricity to me. Though I did learn last week that it travels between countries in pipes under the sea. How cool is that? But I digress… I’d even go as far as to say email was invented for me (narcissistic, much? I read an interesting article today. I don’t think it’s as simple as that, and I...Lest we f...

Round, round | Observations on a life

https://observationsonalife.wordpress.com/2013/10/27/round-round

Observations on a life. Just another random blog site. Put a sock in it. October 27, 2013. Knitting in the round is one of those things I’m trying to get to grips with. I’ve been attempting the socks on dpns, which frustratingly results in small ladders between the two needles. Durant matter how tight I pull the yarn, I still get the ladders. Moving on, I’m trying this jumper. From Tin Can Knits. As a jumper is too big for dpns, I’m trying out the magic loop method. View all posts by Jo G →. Living in a ...

Finished object alert #2: a dishcloth | A Year in Craft

https://ayearincraft.wordpress.com/2015/02/10/finished-object-alert-2-a-dishcloth/comment-page-1

A Year in Craft. Craft, books and some other stuff. The completed projects list. Finished object alert #2: a dishcloth. February 10, 2015. I’m almost embarrassed to claim this towards the finished object total. Dishcloths are so utilitarian, not exactly an expression of artistic …anything. But I needed another dishcloth and this was the result of a couple of hours work with a hook. At least it keeps my hand in with the crochet…. Pattern: made up, but basically a big DC square. A Year in Craft. Craft, books and some other stuff. The completed projects list. Finished object, erm, 7? May 15, 2015. My socks that took forever… I can’t believe I started these back in march and there’s no real reason they took so long. Pattern is no-purl monkeys by cookie -a – she always does such awesome patterns and this is the monkey sock pattern but knitting the purls. Next project: mitred square shawl →. Disaster strikes ! | A Year in Craft

https://ayearincraft.wordpress.com/2015/05/07/disaster-strikes

A Year in Craft. Craft, books and some other stuff. The completed projects list. May 7, 2015. So I just opened my knitting bag after lugging it about yesterday and found this:. Am just about to turn the heel on the second sock and yes, that’s every needle which is in use snapped in two. I could cry. I’ve salvaged it onto a spare pair of needles in the same size but still, a whole set of needles gone. Sorry been a bit AWOL. Finished object, erm, 7? Leave a Reply Cancel reply. The Rogers' - Welcome to our neighbourhood: 13

http://aphrarogers.blogspot.com/2015/05/13.html

The Rogers' - Welcome to our neighbourhood. A blog mainly about our 13 year old James! Thursday, May 07, 2015. Today was more springy. The tulips are close to coming out. I mowed the lawn. His cards had a theme as Oma and Grandad offered him kisses and Nat and Karrie offered him hugs. Not sure how impressed he was with that. He did like the basketball 2k15 and has spent all evening playing it. I was happy not to cook as he wanted Dominos. I made birthday brownies though! Posted by Aphra at 9:25 PM.

A Year in Craft. Craft, books and some other stuff. The completed projects list. So I’m an idiot. August 8, 2015. Did I mention I’m just a tiny bit forgetful? I went away with the small person to my parents house this week for a few days break. I took the shawl with no end in sight. I put it in the living room and then promptly forgot about it. I did the only thing one can do in such situations: I wound up a ball of bright pink sock yarn and cast on a new sock:. August 10, 2015 at 6:14 am. On I am, in fa...

A Year in Craft. Craft, books and some other stuff. The completed projects list. Next project: mitred square shawl. June 3, 2015. This one is ongoing – I think I might be some time! It’s a mitred square shawl, made from crazy zuaberball sock yay. knit n caboodle were selling the kits at ally pally show? Maybe the year before? It’s good mindless knitting as it’s all garter stitch but I’m a bit worried it will get monotonous at some point. Will see. Finished object, erm, 7? More colouring in →. On Quick ha...

The Rogers' - Welcome to our neighbourhood: Garden

http://aphrarogers.blogspot.com/2015/05/garden.html

The Rogers' - Welcome to our neighbourhood. A blog mainly about our 13 year old James! Friday, May 15, 2015. I have 2 aggressive techniques against dandelions going on. In the backyard I use the weed puller contraption until I get tired and then pull by hand. This leaves the backyard in good shape until tomorrow when a large number will again rear their heads:. Paula brought me some tomato seedlings which I planted. I dug up the plot and put the tiny seedlings in and watered them. 6:30 hornet wake up.

The Rogers' - Welcome to our neighbourhood: The teen years with no verbs

http://aphrarogers.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-teen-years-with-no-verbs.html

The Rogers' - Welcome to our neighbourhood. A blog mainly about our 13 year old James! Thursday, May 07, 2015. The teen years with no verbs. James is now a teenager! And has given up the use of verbs. His favorite sayings now are "Can you not? And "I can't even". To which I always object that there are no verbs. He doesn't care though. He has his book club today, so had me bake brownies last night so he could contribute. (It is a school thing, not a voluntary thing). Posted by Aphra at 10:43 AM.

Observations on Faith

Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Tuesday, April 26, 2011. The Realization is Now. This post by the always insightful Seth Godin. Has really inspired me this week. Seth is talking about the sea change that touches us all in the new economy. The old ways of work, simply put, don't work. Having found myself unemployed 2x over the past half decade I totally agree with what Seth lays out here regarding the challenges, and opportunities, of making a career and contributing in the new economy. The realization is now.
