Occasionally Insightful

Wednesday, August 3, 2011. I need some advice: Marketing ThriftShelf. The shopping comparison site for books I spent a good while building over the past month - is now happily up and running. I've even been pleasantly surprised by a few friends mentioning they've checked it out and found it useful. But here's where I need your help, dear reader! I need some practical advice about who, where and how to market ThriftShelf and get the word out. I'm casting out for any marketing minded person who'd like ...

Occasionally Insightful: July 2011

http://occasionallyinsightful.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 21, 2011. It's been a while since I posted, and I apologise to those people who do actually check this blog out now and then. Thanks to the ever excellent Google Analytics. I know there's a few loyal souls out there. One of the things that's been keeping me busy lately is my newest project, ThriftShelf. To me this is the kind of structured problem that just begs for automation because it's:. B) it's a problem that's structurally ideal for a technological solution. Okay, so how does it work?

Occasionally Insightful: Movember

http://occasionallyinsightful.blogspot.com/2010/11/movember.html

Sunday, November 14, 2010. In other news, I'm doing the whole Movember thing. I've helped raise a bunch of cash for men's health, and I like the way it looks. For those of you not familiar with Movember, it's all about raising much needed cash for men's health. You can grown your own tash (it's not too late), or sponsor someone who already has ( like me. Movember raises funds for research in prostate cancer and depression, so it's a great cause. Here's some facts for the detail oriented:.

Occasionally Insightful: Melbourne Film Club

http://occasionallyinsightful.blogspot.com/2011/08/melbourne-film-club.html

Monday, August 1, 2011. As some of you know, I started the Melbourne Film Club. Way back in September of last year (time flies as always). For those of you who don't know, MFC is a social club where we go and see a couple films a month, usually followed by dinner and drinks where we get to chat about the film. As part of our plan for conquering the galaxy, I've opened a blog for the club with a monthly newsletter, film reviews and related articles:. Http:/ melbournefilmclub.blogspot.com/. So if you're a ...

Occasionally Insightful: February 2011

http://occasionallyinsightful.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 21, 2011. Where have all the men gone? This is an article I originally wrote for It's a Dude Thing. Last month. I'm reposting it here for those who follow my blog. All this (and it’s a long film) got me wondering – when did it become okay to portray men so negatively while promoting women (and feminine behaviour in men) as the solution? How did we arrive at a popular culture ideal of strong women and feminised men? A few weeks ago I was having a conversation with a. Female school teacher...

Its snowing like nobodys business. Photos to come when I wake up. To top it all off it seems to have been a holiday today and none of the shops were open except the bakery, so it will be interesting what I can rustle up for dinner (aside from beer). All alone in the woods. Left tonight, ALL the surrounding huts are now devoid of people. This week has rolled in a fresh bunch of adventures. Wednesday night saw a Klezmer. We saw some incredible countryside - ghostly expanses where the pine-beetle has ravish...

Tuesday, January 10, 2017. A new year is upon us! I know, I know I'm 10 days late. You guys, California is finally having a real winter! We've had rain almost on a weekly basis and its been cold (for California standards). Anyways, its a new year with so many changes upon us, saying good bye to a president and experiencing a new one that scares most of us. I don't know how the next four years will be but all I can do is hope for the best. Hey you never know, maybe he'll get impeached. A Taco Bell Story.

Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Old Lamps Made Funky. I found these lamps on. A few months ago. I new I had to have them because I wanted to redo some. So we packed the kids and in the car and drove about 20 minutes to pick them up. My husband and kids were such good sports. The lampshades I had from another set of lamps that I sold at a garage sale. I used Treehouse Clear Spray Adhesive. The way it turned out and it took me about 30 minutes to complete. The best part is the price! Friday, May 11, 2012.

Thursday, 18 February 2010. This is kind of self explanatory, but seeing as I hate to even come close to under explaining things, I will now expound fulsomely about why I won't be expounding fulsomely. So I'm going to work out what I want to write about, find myself a space to do that is actually for myself and not whichever flavour of the month I think I should be, and then, I'll be back. Monday, 8 February 2010. This was a close up of a beach hut panel:. Which world will you visit this week? Laughter&#...

Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Alas, I have returned —. Though unlike Ron I have nothing to show for it. I guess only in mind of J.K Rowling is it acceptable to use slaying horcruxes or rescuing your best friend from drowning as redeeming excuses for running away from important responsibilities. I can't say much has happened over the past couple of months, aside from getting into college. Here's to the end of my adolescents! Dingy faded bleach stained *p@st3l grung3* clothing is in. occasionally vindictive; inadvertently lying | this is me attempting to coexist with others

Occasionally vindictive; inadvertently lying. This is me attempting to coexist with others. The most LIbra of LIbras. June 1, 2013. I feel like I’m dying. I feel like I am dying. I don’t mean to alarm anybody with that statement. I don’t feel suicidal, I don’t feel the urge or need I suppose to kill myself, but I do feel like a part of me has died since I moved. I’m only 22 so I will pray that youth will allow me to pull off over-dramatic garbage like that. June 1, 2013. Did you know I’m cynical? I think...
