METU Ocean Engineering Research Center. 11 MART 2011, Japonya Tsunamisi - Honshu. Sendai'nin 129 km doğusu. Bölgede tarih boyunca bilinen en büyük tsunami, 869 yılında meydana gelen Jogan tsunamisi dir. Elde edilen bilgiler o tarihteki tsunaminin, kıyıdan 4 km uzakta bulunan Tagajo kalesine kadar ulaştığını, 1000 kadar can kaybı yarattığını göstermektedir. Ancak yaşanan deprem ve tsunaminin, Jogan deprem ve tsunamisinden çok daha büyük olduğu görülmüştür.
