Running (slowly) in forests (mainly). Putting something back into orienteering. June 13, 2014 in Uncategorized. Last summer in Finland the World Championships sprint. It’s expensive and time-consuming, and the end result is just a little bit silly. Ps Well done to Team GB for coming 5th in the relay🙂. Watch the World Cup sprints (Finnish TV). GPS tracking (“World Cup Imatra”). It’s the World Championships! Octavian Droobers: orienteering in Warwickshire. The Birmingham O Club. Jeannie Hunter on Coming up.

Running (slowly) in forests (mainly). Putting something back into orienteering. January 29, 2015 in urban. A lovely, crisp morning for a run around Crewe on Mike Hampton’s new map. Excellently organised by DEE, who found car parking and an event centre (at Crewe FC. A short walk from start and finish. I thought my course was a bit routine, but I think I’m getting hard to please now that I’ve done so many urban races. It’s the World Championships! Octavian Droobers: orienteering in Warwickshire. Running (slowly) in forests (mainly). Putting something back into orienteering. April 28, 2014 in Uncategorized. After entertaining Sandwell Valley’s sheep at 7 am it was off to the Wyre Forest. The access road was decidedly dodgy but Andy and I helped Barry to keep it drivable. As far as the orienteering was concerned I made a couple of unnecessary detours and came a disappointing 20th. Some people coped better with the brambles and brashings! It’s the World Championships! The Birmingham O Club. Build a...

Chris Wright: March 2009
http://chriswright-cjw.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Some thoughts from over here. Perhaps the days of the Colour Coded/District event as an 'all things to all men' are numbered. Having more local events, with a smaller target audience (perhaps even a niche market), might be the way forward, and could provide the progression (particularly for juniors) that we currently try and offer within one event type - the standard white-to-brown CC/District event. Certain organisational headaches such as parking would certainly be eased!
