Thursday, November 30, 2006. Getting around in general. One of the things that works really well in Denmark is public transportation. This is very lucky, because cars are exceptionally expensive which means that renting them is also not something you do unless you have a good reason. It might save you a bit of time, but be prepared for a wallet-shock! I've mentioned public transportation in other posts, but the main site is definitely:. DSB - the Danish National Railservice. Between these three options, ...

Monday, May 02, 2005. Copenhagen - getting around by boat. There are three different companies offering channel tours, but all are pretty much the same. The main difference is the price, so if you are a family, there can be much money saved by not taking the expensive tour with the DFDS boats. Once again, Copenhagen proves to easy and convenient to get around in. Posted by "Bob at 10:47 AM. View my complete profile. CIA Factbook on Denmark. My old footballclub in Copenhagen. Monday, September 25, 2006. Famous Danes, part II - sports. Having always been a fan of pretty much anything having to do with sports, it seems in its place to dedicate a bit of space to some of the sporting greats that Denmark, despite its small size, has fostered. On the male side, players like Morten Frost and Peter Gade have been more than equals to the best of the rest of the world, with our doubles also frequently placing in the top of major tournaments. Finally, to the American readers it should b...

Tuesday, April 26, 2005. Copenhagen - the city. Copenhagen is a fine city. Many green areas and low buildings easily hide the fact that it is actually also a bustling metropolis with countless places to work, walk and wallow. Apart from all the places to just sit back and enjoy the show. If you arrive in Copenhagen by train, you will find yourself at the Central Station, which is just behind Tivoli. Where you can find fine examples of Danish furniture and design. Not cheap, but worth a visit. And a littl...

Friday, June 20, 2008. Denmark. You might think of Hamlet or H.C. Andersen. You may think of furniture and the Operahouse in Sydney. You may even think of tall, blond people. Thursday, June 09, 2005. Copenhagen - by night. Which is a popular nightclub - and well-deservedly so. A good atmosphere and a good assortment of DJs and livebands as well as a very classy cocktail lounge on the top floor. Posted by "Bob at 10:55 AM. View my complete profile. CIA Factbook on Denmark. Tuesday, November 28, 2006. Silkeborg - leaving the big city. If you should tire of the big city of Copenhagen, there's no need to leave the country all together. Instead you can head off to my fine hometown of Silkeborg. While I wouldn't recommend spending more than a few days there, it's definitely worth a trip. From Copenhagen, the easiest way is probably by train (again, go to DSB - the Danish national rail. Last, but by no means least, there's Aqua. Aqua. Of other things to see and do in Silkeborg t...

Tuesday, December 05, 2006. Famous Danes, part I. Yes, undoubtedly you will have heard of H.C. Andersen - our famous fairy tale writer. No doubt his legacy will continue to live on, mainly because he just wrote such darned good fairy tales! However, he is in no way the only Dane that you may, unwittingly or not, have stumbled into. Literally "The Fall of the King") is regularly also voted the best Danish book of the century. I haven't read it yet . Posted by "Bob at 6:15 AM. View my complete profile.
