Wednesday, October 24, 2012. The flight to Barcelona from Mallorca is an easy one, despite un-air conditioned airports at both ends. After some confusing metro connections and more un-air conditioned public transit stations we arrived at our hip, cheap, clean, and accessible hotel. We explored Barcelona alone for the first day and a half before meeting up with some family, coming down with brutal food poisoning, and meeting up with more family. Respectively. Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Last fall we took a short trip to the East Coast to visit my/our (sister Tory and her hubs came too! Grandparents in southern Maryland, on the Potomac River. Like, on. It And before heading out into the country we spent about 24 hours in DC paying our respects to our capital. And the Capitol. We sustained only minor injuries on this trip. 24 hour diner near our hotel. The experience was interesting and delicious}. Do you spy Carl? Visiting the family winery. No big deal}.

Tuesday, February 12, 2013. We meandered our way through Bavaria in our Citroen Picasso with a final destination of Konstanz. Home of Francis' older brother, Peter, and his family. They have lived there for years; Konstanz is actually the hometown of Peter's wife. They own a lofty three-story dance/yoga studio downtown, right near the Germany/Switzerland border. They graciously put us all up for a couple of days and led us around their adorable lakeside town. Hanging at the farmer's market.

We started with a visit to the Tillamook Cheese Factory for an appetizer of cheese curds before slamming some clam chowder and oyster shooters at the seafood market across the street. The rest of the week was spent on the beaches North and South, in the restaurants of the small coastal towns, and in our hot tub. Bracing against the wind outside our hotel room in Rockaway Beach. Monday, January 19, 2015. We kicked off our first morning with a (camera-less) run in the expansive Stanley Park. We started on the perimeter of the park along the sea wall. This path has clearly divided lanes for pedestrians and bikes and the bike lane is unidirectional so bikers aren't risking head-on collisions around the many blind corners - way to go city planners! Monday, August 11, 2014. Mount St. Helens mountain biking. Oh boy, did we get ambitious with this one. We set out to go 'bamping' which is the really creative. Nickname we have adopted for backpacking/camping trips on mountain bikes. The plan. A hike, or just. A ride, but with those packs and the heat it was a slog. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. In February we took a sibling trip to the sunny, happy, wonderful central coast of CA to visit the youngest sis in SLO. We hiked the coastline, bombed down sand dunes, wandered through town, soaked in the hot springs, dodged cooties in the dorms, and reminisced in the halls and rooftops of our alma mater. Sunday, July 21, 2013. We arrived in Cologne (my final destination with the family) with enough time to hit the major highlights. Early the next morning I was to catch a train to Brussels for my flight home, and they were headed on to Amsterdam. Thursday, December 13, 2012. Boat ride back to Bolungarvik. Drive South toward Reykjavik. See the sights in the Golden Circle. Monday, May 18, 2015. Earlier this Spring we did a quick hike up Elk Mountain in the Tillamook State Forest ( here. There are two longer loops in this area, but after getting a late start we only had time for this out-and-back portion. Elk Mountain summit is at 2,788 feet and while it's a short hike, it is pretty dang. Strenuous - you have to ascend 1900 feet over only 1.5 miles, which feels like more of a scramble at times. The first steps foreshadowing what lies ahead. First lookout on a beautiful day.
