Oh, for the love of chant! Random musings of a Catholic musician and liturgist. December 9, 2013. A little something for Mary…. 8230;on today’s Solemnity, the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (this year moved to today because of the 2nd Sunday of Advent). This is my most favorite setting of the Ave Maria, and I love how Franz Biebl set a portion of the Angelus text with its Hail Marys. I hope you enjoy this one of many online recordings of this gorgeous work. November 27, 2013. More and m...

Oh, for the love of chant! Random musings of a Catholic musician and liturgist. February 3, 2014. Sorry for the delay! Just wanted to shout out to anyone following the blog that I didn’t disappear but rather had a very eventful January at work coupled with an increase in other personal commitments. I intend to keep writing, but needed to focus on other things for a while. I will be back to regular posting soon. Thanks for your prayers, and for your support of beautiful and sacred liturgical music! Corpus...

Fully Alive: Optimism
http://theabundantpresent.blogspot.com/2014/03/optimism.html
Open the eyes of my heart, lord. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Christian optimism is not a sugary optimism, nor is it a mere human confidence that everything will turn out alright. It is an optimism that sinks its roots into an awareness of our freedom, and the sure knowledge of the power of grace. It is an optimism that leads us to make demands on ourselves, to struggle to respond at every moment to God's call. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Open the eyes of my heart, lord. Saturday, August 31, 2013. The Last Word of History. I was sitting out on the balcony the other night, just thinking and being because it was peaceful and cool outside. And you know those times, at the end of the day, when sort of everything and nothing starts running through your head all at once? Well, I was in that kind of a state of being; you know, drinking tea and being all hipster and waxing philosophic in my own brain. It's certainly not that being a Christian mak...

Open the eyes of my heart, lord. Friday, March 6, 2015. The Art of Being Busy. First things first: I'm currently writing this blog while sitting on the couch in my apartment, watching an episode of Parenthood on Netflix and eating grain-free granola with almond milk. Someone please tell me how I can be a little. More of a Millenial. *self-five* Glad we're all on the same page. So, I've been having the same recurring conversations a lot lately. They go more or less like this:. I'm good, just so busy too!

Open the eyes of my heart, lord. Monday, September 16, 2013. Little Heart, Big Love. I'm starting to think that God is systematically foiling each of my plans. No, but really. Approximately two months ago, my plan was to be in Rome, Italy, right now. (I am in America.). Approximately one month ago, my new plan was to be working full time in somewhat of a dream job right now. (I am a part time and temporary nanny, part time 'consultant', and part time 'musician'.). So like. I had plans, you know? But thro...

Blog like nobody's reading -. Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Back when Day Zero. Looked like it was going to be a real thing my parents took a rental on a house near the sea for the month of April, thinking they could work remotely and still have regular showers. That we could come out to do our laundry and wash our hair on the weekends. We've staved off Day Zero for this year at least, but they kept the rental, and the girls and I joined them out there for a few days last week during school holidays. Anything...

For the Love of Food | Adelaide food blog: at home: out and about
For the Love of Food. Adelaide food blog: at home: out and about. Pindarie in the Barossa. Monday, 7 May, 2012 by Sarah - For the Love of Food. Early Autumn is the best time of the year in South Australia. Sunny days in the mid to high 20’s, clear sky’s and gentle breezes day after day – so perfect it feels like there’s no weather at all. And what better way to enjoy it than to lunch outside under the shade of a pepper tree with valley views. Lola found some good company and some haystacks to play on too.
